Okay, look I enjoy the story as much as anyone else here, so put away the pitchforks and torches all you people yelling "The story is it's own reward".

My point is just this is again a feature that yes, some will enjoy regardless of "physical" reward or no. But a large part of potential is wasted (imo) understand, you already have the book at the inns, replaying you might as well do on alts and get something out of it- but I also get the whole swapping jobs and wanting to experience the story with the new class etc -but it is my biggest gripe with FF is that between patches, to do content you either have to a) grind fates/dungeons/leves with lame enjoyment/replay/time invested to exp ratio - or you have to grind POTD and HOH over and over and over and over...which we've done for the last how many expansions.

Why not give a legitimate alternative to the grindfest with giving exp while redoing the quests? Doing them and leveling a class is no less work (albeit no "free stuff") as rolling an alt. But gives me options to enjoy my leveling experience. I would like to level my jobs without feeling like my options are a) long ass ques for dungeons/fate hopping for next to no exp b)running around in, what becomes a ingame embodiment of an insane hell of running the same room 240 times in a row.

*Edit* And yes, being able to do old content without worrying about alt-level is also legitimate. I am running around trying to catch up on missed quests and storyline. I myself am looking forward to doing the crystal tower quests, ironically did the run-up quests just before SHB launch without thinking about the connection. So I get that aspect as well. Still would be an option for those who want to redo with a highlevel, but missed oppertunity for those that would like to do them for story -and- be able to get up that blackmage without the same grind we have now as the only alternatives.

Because people would abuse it and just farm MSQ experience, while drying up queues for low level duties.

Last time I checked low-level dungeons are prerequisites for MSQ completion *shrugs* and also, if your whole sales pitch is "We can't add anything that gives exp with a more fun experience because then people won't do this other monotinous thing that gives shit exp" then why not fix the thing that gives terrible exp? I'd rather do the MSQ with a slight exp nerf than having to replay the dungeons/HOH/POTD over and over as my -only- option. Again, it's not about "free/superior exp gain" it's about -variety-.

So, levelling/Main Scenario/Alliance roulettes give "shit exp"? And you seem to be forgetting about beast tribes, daily hunts, FATEs...

There's actually already too many ways to get EXP rather than just sticking to spamming dungeons/HOH/POTD. You restrict yourself to them only by choice - there's no variety in replacing spamming duties with spamming MSQs.

If anything they should be removing xp completly from potd and hoh as thats not what that content was designed for and it ruins the experience for players who try do it the way it was intended not to mention people never learn to play their jobs by running from one end of the corridor to the other resulting in noobs at high lvls.
Uuuhhh, yes it was. All the extra challenge floors came some time after the launch of the main thing, and they've been giving EXP since the beginning. If they weren't intended for it, EXP would've been removed from it already.

When potd originally came out people were doing it for the challenge and for the items. Not to kill 5 monsters, ignore every chest regardless if a team mate wanted to open any and rush to tp to next level.rinse repeat. It was also of the original design to be able to get a powerful weapon from the dungeon without doing relic quest or tome grinding. The xp gain was just a bonus they put in the design.
The way most use it now is not the original intent of design though it has become the norm for people to level alt jobs now.

Its not your only option though.Beast tribes exist.Daily hunts exist.Fates exist.Pvp exists. All of these give xp.It's not like back in the ARR days where your only choice was certain dungeons or join camp dragonhead and North thal fate trains for hours on end spamming your aoe button.

I mean, it is. Even before SB released, players were asking for options to redo pieces of content they’ve already done before. The level 50 DRK quest was one of the most highly requested on this forum. And they didn’t want experience or Gil from it—they just wanted to experience the story and the awesome instance. It wouldn’t surprise me if these requests were where the idea of New Game Plus came from.

My point is just this is again a feature that yes, some will enjoy regardless of "physical" reward or no. Not all of the cutscenes and dialogue are available in the Unending Journey. And doing the story on an alt isn’t the same as experiencing it on your main character. For those that make alts just to experience the story, the experience is usually different on a different character. My alt Arianna doing HW was a different experience than what I had on Hyomin, and not just from Hyo being my first character. Perhaps it’s not easy to understand, but the story feels different for me on different characters because they all have different designs—e.g., different personalities and respond to situations differently.

-but it is my biggest gripe with FF is that between patches, to do content you either have to a) grind fates/dungeons/leves with lame enjoyment/replay/time invested to exp ratio - or you have to grind POTD and HOH over and over and over and over...which we've done for the last how many expansions.
If you are finding these options stale, perhaps it’s best to take a break from them and leveling. I find that I only experience this kind of tediousness when I’m approaching burnout.

Why not give a legitimate alternative to the grindfest with giving exp while redoing the quests? Doing them and leveling a class is no less work (albeit no "free stuff") as rolling an alt. Making New Game Plus an alternative will defeat the entire purpose of it. It’s not meant to be an experience giver. It’s meant for those who want to enjoy the story to have a chance to go back and simply enjoy it. Not everything in this game has to give rewards. Not every feature has to be designed with leveling in mind. I think adding experience detracts from the original purpose. And I can’t help but think there will be those that use it to bit jobs to level cap just like they used PvP for that when it started giving experience.

My only request for this feature is to add in the job quest lines ASAP. I’ve been dying to do the entire DRK storyline on Hyomin since the day I finished the level 50 quest back during HW.
