Keeping my fingers crossed that they opt for a scoring system for the ranking that will prevent legit crafters from getting totally screwed over by botters.
Limited turn-ins + no collectability limit is probably about as fair as it could get, though people could still scum that with bots by simply crafting on loop until they get lucky with several excellent procs during a craft. It would still be better then a grindy system that only cares about how many turn-ins you do, though.
Well, it seems like they are officially making crafting (and gathering, but gathering kind of needed it.) a lot easier again...didn’t think that was possible, lol. I knew it wasn’t going to be a balanced change, and would further unbalance crafting even further in terms of easy difficulty. At this point, it seems Square Enix has completely deviated from what they originally intended crafting to be back in 2.x and 3.x, and made it extremely child-friendly. But, that’s their decision and I respect their decision to never step in difficult territory again, that’s fine.
However, I will not continue to repeatedly pay a subscription for a game that I find the developers do not care for players like me. I’ll likely only play when occasional patches come, like the Yorha raid, that’s about it. I will say without a doubt, that this is the first time that I’ve ever seen the end game market become so full of players driving prices down. I usually support low prices due to players who can’t afford things, but the way things are now, it isn’t even worth my time to even be a crafter anymore. Very sad direction this game is going in now.
I do hope the players that enjoy easy crafting further enjoy the game though, because square Enix seems to favor these types of players a lot, no matter what. And for players that are like me, all I can say is that it’s 99% likely never going to become balanced in difficulty ever again.
Hopefully in the next ff mmo they learn from their mistakes, but the only thing I actually enjoy in ff is pretty much gone, so I’ll probably play BDO.
I think maybe you're worrying too early. There are no actual information on what is going to change, except that it will be easier for newbies to start crafting, and also there will be new content for avid crafters, which I would rather translate as, "expand on the crafting gameplay for the core playerbase."
I for one welcome many of the changes, especially on the UI and action bloat. I think we should all just wait for some solid information before deciding that crafting gameplay is ruined.

I mean yeah, I’ll wait until October’s Live Letter and see what’s up, but we all know it’s not going to be anything that will balance out the difficulty. I hope I’m wrong but I know deep down I’m probably right, and it sucks that we have gotten to a point where I have to admit that.I think maybe you're worrying too early. I don't expect the difficulty to occur in normal crafting. They want it to be accessible to everyone with an interest.I mean yeah, I’ll wait until October’s Live Letter and see what’s up, but we all know it’s not going to be anything that will balance out the difficulty. The difficulty should come with whatever challenge they're creating for the Ishgard reconstruction leaderboards. They did tell us that it was going to be the end game for crafting and gathering that players have been requesting. It would be pointless to have those leaderboards based off turn ins, which would clearly favor the botters. But we'll have to wait and see just what it is they've created for us.
The very idea of removing all the cross class skills scares the bleeding pants off me. I have 8-9 actions set in there that are absolutely essential to make 2 star HQ. I spent the better part of 2 weeks farming materia to make a max meld crafting set, and to have all that be trash next month because it goes poof.
hey lets put the Rng factor back in that way there can be a 50% chance you lose all your materiels on each attempt. Uhh how about no.
I don't think they're removing the skills, just baking them into every single class so it's actually viable to level a single DoH class to cap without touching the others.
I truly hope you are right, because if they make crafting horrible again, I will just stop doing it completely. go back to Gathering for my money needs
If overmelding is really going to crucial to the restoration, I seriously hope they buff the success rate in 5.1.
I've never bothered going super hard at that in the past between the high materia prices and the horrible odds.
