they dont look at this thread fro feedback, they just know a huge amount of ppl want it and its basically almost twice as big as the second biggest thread on this forums. If the devs say no then they can expect to have huge backlash from the community, and it is only fair for someone to complain if they dont like something, specially if that someone is a customer paying a monthly fee for a service

The problem with this is...nobody is paying for Male Viera. Male Viera weren't even shown in game/arn't in the game, the devs never said it was happening, it was never promised. So this backlash is literally just a childish reaction to not getting what you want.
Mad about Genderlocks? Well the Viera is probably the ONE race that even can be Genderlocked, considering how the (Wait for it...) Viera Lore works

Actually, it's not fair to throw a tantrum over something you were never promised and have continually been reminded of the fact that there's zero promise it will happen.

Second biggest thread which has a lot people who are indifferent one way or the other, or they are arguing hypothetically over something that hasn't happened. A lot of these posts are from the same few who post over and over bumping the thread. Take those away and you'll find this thread is not as huge as you make it. Rather than a poll of players votes with yes or no, it's a bunch of garble mixed in.

I dont get why this is mentioned as a defence for male viera/female hrothgar. The game before 1.0 was a flop, had a diffrent developer, and pertty much a compleatly diffrent game than 2.0. The game was scrapped and reborn into the game we see today.

We are now grabbing races with established lore and pulling them into xiv, with some people for the lore changes and many more aginst it. No matter what they do, they honestly wouldnt make either side happy. Even if we did get male viera, it wont be "your" version of it, and by your, i mean everyone in this thread. People will complain and be upset by one thing or another.

I have nothing aginst the addition, if it ever happens, im just stateing what i see.

I think most people would agree that the main point of this thread is the likes that show the overwhelming support in favor of adding male Viera (and female Hrothgar which has another 1000 likes but around 100 pages) more than the page count. What the page count does show is that people are unwilling to let the issue vanish for whatever reason the have themselves.

We've been able to keep up the discussion alive for a while on here while people on tumblr/twitter/instagram still post about the subject regularly as well. The one site I do know is hostile to the idea is reddit, but it's for reasons that actually do seem to tie in to things like sexism/homophobia from the screenshots I've seen of the drama that happened there months ago.

Considering how strict racial lore is kept, I'd say its the other way around in terms of wanting to preserve lore vs not bothered by breaking lore. I mean, there's a few race tribes that are supposed to be super independent and isolated but we're freely able to make them a Player Character.

It's also worth noting that even as they keep to some lore of Viera the fact that XIV Viera =/= FFXII Viera.

Err, yeah I have to agree that most people would prefer whatever gives them more fun over adhering to lore. See: Frog suit, cars, npc outfits, etc... Racial lore isn't strict in this game and it's better for it. I would hate if for example only lalafells could become black mages, or roegadyn warriors and the list goes on. Things like racial/gender-locked classes are massive backwards along with gender-locked races.

Genderlocked races don't actually effect a game. Peoples Hatred of Female Only/Male Only is the issue. Not being able to deal with it is the issue. The people, not the Game.
Otherwise Ivalice games would have flopped because no playable Male Viera.
The Car could exist in Garlameld, the Frog Suit and Npc outfits have no lore to them and dont effect the universe, so they can't restrict the game in any way.

Realistically Lalafell (or I know your talking about Tarutaru) could always be warriors and whatnot, they are just more Magically Adept. Same that Roe (or Galka) they could be mages, their strength is just their best quality.

By strict I just meant what the lore behind the race entails. They don't enforce any of it, but reading the lore just gives you insight to that clan's culture and stuff.

People have evolved to expect better options for classes/races/genders from the time those games were initially released. It's 2019 not 1997.
