Seeing with your eyes isn't a crime.
Wearing a bikini top doesnt mean it's not ok for someone to see it.
Having a skirt thats so short u see the underwear, even from a normal camera angle doesnt mean its wrong to see them.

This is why people used to be so strict on making skirts longer in the past.
Someone isnt allowed to see private stuff, when its properly being concealed.
But if you're not attempting to conceal something, the person who's in trouble is now you.
This is why the wrong doer, in the case of someone running around nude, or nude "enough" is the person not wearing enough.

In the case of extremely short skirts, its a newer phenomenon where its a grey area in our moral codes, which has lead to it being considered "rude".

But his original statement still holds true. And even with it holding true, it doesnt mean it isnt socially rude. Both are possible together. Which is why we're in this thread at all, since it was already a grey area, BEFORE it made its way into video games, making the subject even more subjective.

Some people like wearing skirts for their own reasons, that doesn't give anyone a right to take a look, or a right to shame them for it. That goes for real life as well as in game.

On the contrary. Wearing a skimpy outfit does not give anyone a right to dictate where people turn their camera. Own it or wear something else.

The simple reason people would take screenshots like that as if it's the most normal thing in the world in itself is weird. Like there is no threshold of shame or decency anymore. We have this behaviour at work, too. I work in grocery retail, and my female colleague picked up a huge, smoked Salami stick and my black workmate immediately acted like that innocent Salami is his... You hopefully get what I mean by "low threshold of shame anymore".

But then, als half "goth" and "aristocrat" in real life I rather have my ladys wearing beautiful clothes that you can take off when it matters instead of reveal everything on the first looks...I don't growl and snort at every little bit of flesh of the opposite gender. . .

I'm neither goth nor aristocrat and know at the end of the day it's all personal tastes but honestly I don't get the appeal of running around half naked...so boring when there is nothing left to imagination. I'll take a female in full armor over a bikini babe any day

Tho as a (bi) female I don't mind guys running around shirtless...hmm...I guess I'm more used to half naked females and full armored males so the opposite is way more appealing to me

I answered this question prior in the thread multiple times, but I indirectly answered this in the very next sentence to you.

It's an MMO. It's a fantasy game, were the laws and boundaries of the real world doesn't exist. We can kill each other, we can use magic, and we can defeat a dragon while naked. Please don't tell me it's inappropriate because it's creepy or disrespectful when everyone does a lot things in this game that would be of creepy and disrespectful in the real life (like trying to kill someone in Frontlines).

Personally, I don't care. No point in worrying about what a random person on the internet can do to pixels. Still, better FFXIV characters than real people on the street.

You purposely used Cognitive redefinition on the word "Normal" there.
It's "Normal" to move the camera in the game.
The game was designed with short skirts for male players to look at.
This is also "Normal".
Looking up someone elses skirt is taboo.
But a large percentage of male players, and some female players do it.
Now you're reusing the word "Normal" to mean what the average player does, rather than what is "Natural/inherent." in that usage of "Normal".

You're the one using Mental Gymnastics.

There's not a single thing they said that is incorrect. They didnt need to come up with a way to justify their actions.
They even straight up admitted people dislike it, and gave an example of another semi similar example where people also dislike something. The exception being that PvP tells you up front what to expect, where as dressing in a mini skirt might not be self explanatory enough to most players, followed by the more unknown possibility, wearing a long dress can be clipped through, for similar effect.
Both of those things are inherent to how games work, unless they incorporate limits on the system to prevent it. (such as not being able to clip into a dress, or not being able to move a camera upward when a person is wearing a skirt, or diverting the camera when your character is being tossed around by an animation, etc)

Because of all of this, and many more reasons repeated indefinitely in the thread, its only a taboo, because it falls into a grey area, and we all just agree to say its taboo, but its not severe enough to punish on its own, unless it escalates into harassment.
