No, but at that point you are expected to understand how gearing works.
How long do we baby people? If its not 1 job leveled, and apparently not 5 jobs leveled to max, then when? When they break the level cap before an expansion drops?
I'm gonna be wary and defensive about what the "solution" the devs will come up because it may open up extra cans of worms in the long run.Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/402453

Q: Please set appropriate item level restrictions for leveling dungeons. Currently, it's possible for players to enter even if their item level is far too low to actually complete the dungeon…
A: We understand the issue and have been discussing it within the development team. Simply setting an item level requirement may create new problems, so we’re trying to come up with a different solution
There you go they are looking into it but through a non min ilv solution, what that solution could be who the hell knows, could make things better could make things as bad as now.

That's not what it is about. But getting to 80 on multiple jobs without knowing absolutely basic things like:
yes, there are vendors who sell level appropriate white gear.
Yes, there is the market board where you can grab some HQ stuff cheaper than vendor non HQ because people leveled their crafters.
Yes, there are tomestone vendors who sell gear which will last several levels.
Not to mention equipping something for every goddamn slot you have.
Nobody needs to be skilled to know these things. Not by a long shot. It's basic knowledge.
I have trouble buying into the "looking into the issue". They've known of this for a long time now, and we can look at features they have implemented into the game as an attempt to rectify the situation. With features like squadron, trusts, increased (exp) reward based in ilv disparity, providing updated HQ gear via MSQ, among others; they have done just about everything except put an ilv requirement on leveling dungeons.
What kind of problems are they talking about? Are they technical related, or are they referring to problems arising within the playerbase; because one of those two already exists. Right now, I believe only max level content has a requirement, so it might have something to do with that.
I propose that they set base ilv sync for leveling dungeons. It's lazy, and promotes laziness, but it would work. If you're not at the minimum ilv requirement, the dungeon simply syncs you to it. I am fairly certain that a similar reasoning was behind our abilities we gain in the leveling stages no longer require to be quested. It's just given to you when you hit the appropriate level. Might as well follow suit with leveling ilv syncs.
Knowing SE, that is probably exactly how they will handle this.
They can put a lvl requirement on the dungeon but not the roulette. That way players going through the MSQ and getting to the dungeons must meet the lvl requirement to queue for them leaving the leveling roulette untouched. They're not afraid of new players getting roadblocked. They afraid of running into the same issues we currently have with alliance and 50/60/70 roulette. Where people take off half their gear before queuing to up force a faster and easier lower level dungeon.
They definitely need to address the issue of people going into leveling dungeons vastly undergeared, but simply tacking on an ilevel requirement isn't ideal.
I really hope that the idea the devs have will work (whatever it is) and will happen soon enough and not in a few years. You don’t need to upgrade for every level, but the person in the OP’s post is wearing base level 60 gear from HW, which started around i150 and ended at i270. Not to mention their random ARR pieces. That’s a tad inexcusable in terms of gear.
The developers are so worried about people being roadblocked, but they don’t seem to understand that players kick individuals like this from dungeons due to wearing gear that became irrelevant over 4 years ago....
Also its really sad but some of those are not even kicked. Thankfully the desaster tank I had in Haukke was kicked but sometimes people just pull them through even though they should be kicked out for that. Maybe they then would start to learn.
I think you misunderstood me. I'm not in any way trying to say that this player was in the right, what I said was in response the original post. After telling us about how this guy was sorely undergeared, they followed up by explaining how this person had multiple class at 80, as if that should've ensured that they would be immune to something like this. That's not what it is about. I doubt they could make it worse but we will see if their solution is better than just putting an ilv requirement when they decide to do it.
Guy butt is best butt <3
There is no excuse for someone with multiple jobs at 80 to do that, that’s my pointI think you misunderstood me. I would appreciate an iLv requirement, I would also like to see vendor gear not cost both an arm, and a leg for an average player. Next expansion they'll start costing organs and if the issue isn't amended then it'll only get worse. Fun fact, full set of Lv71 gear is 277k via vendors. A lot of people are not so inclined to spend that level of gil on something that is going to have 1-2/3 levels before being utterly replaced
Just adjust the class quest to give ample gear to carry on with the levelling process (e.g Augmented Crafted - i390), simple as then people won't need to jump through hoops and loops just to make sure they're geared, but rather have the gearing become a natural process.
