It's not though, they're only fixing the foundation of the game, they're not rewriting the entire storyline -- Only the 7th Umbral storyline is going to be done away with once 2.0 hits.

Since the whole purpose of it was to explain why the world will suddenly be different. (Maps are being redone, so a virtual apocalypse would explain that just well.)

Gonna put on my moderator hat here for a minute, and take off easy-going hat (I have a lot of hats, okay?).

For everyone on both sides of the subject ("I love this, can't wait to ride it and be all like "woo, yeah, woo!" and "I hate this, I would never ride such a thing! I can't believe they'd put a carpet on a goobbue!"), it's okay to have a difference of opinion. That's fine. But let's stop the personal attacks because of someone's opinion. It's great that we all have them and it's useful for us to know for feedback, but we don't need posts that are just attacking another player's subjective opinion.

Ok so you're saying essentially that lore can never be changed in any MMO and its always set in stone from release? Are you kidding me? The lore of every MMO in existence has always evolved. So I guess SE can never add any more features because it will disrupt the purity of the original launch content?

Generally lore is never changed in an MMORPG, only the storyline. Lore is background story, unless MMOs these days also blurred what Lore and progressive storylines are.
