To the patient Haukke group yesterday: Sorry for that really clunky run due my playing and tanking with really terrible lags (as in fighting with seconds of freeze before action returned in super fast-forward motion). I hoped the lags would calm down in instanced content like it did two days ago, but unfortunately this wasn't the case! I was sweating cold sweat for your sakes as well during the whole run, while expecting a couple of times the disconnect xD. Dear SCH, thank you for not losing hope with me , haha.

Yeah, playing due to circumstances with Powerline LAN over a couple of storeys across two apartments is not optimal, but it works ususally fine until evening.

Yesterday was the day, when Everything Went Wrong on my WHM.

Got into Leveling Roulette. It's Dusk Vigil. Of course. Because other dungeons do not exist. We start the run, i notice that tank is quite squishy. Inspect them and there's usual mismatch of gear of not quite Ironworks and the like. We're going slow, but that was more or less okay, if a bit stressful..

Then i got Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) in 50/60/70 again. Let's wipe on the first boss, because that never gets old. Let's almost wipe on the last boss as well, because standing in AoE is amazing.

Last WTF moment, which surprisingly turned into something special was Trials Roulette. It's Bismark. Other Healer eats Landslide™ in the first 15 seconds of the fight and falls down. And i was like, hells, let's do this, it will be awesome. So i pretty much solo-healed it and did quite decent job, i guess. Since only other death was BLM near the end.
Highlights include. Panic Benediction on myself, when i am in low triple digits hp-wise. Tornadoes everywhere. Bouncing heals between everyone, while trying to keep both tanks alive. Overall, it was one of the most fun things i did recently.

I encounter people like that all the time because I regularly open with "you need to upgrade your gear" as well. They are all over.

You weren't even rude about it. "You really need to upgrade your gear" is a pretty neutral and helpful response.

Not to dig up old drama, but..... Yeah, people consider that harassment, or "rude" around here. Trust me. I know...

Yesterday I was doing roulette with my blackmage and landed in Haukke normal. I dont have a problem with people not playing great (and I honestly had problems with my BLM too because I was used to higher leves before that) but I started to notice that something was off with the tank. First the healer had to remind them to use buffs, because they seemingly got hit for a lot of damage even with simple trash. Later in the cellar I noticed that she was losing aggro to us (and did not seem to bother got get it back..). I talked with that to a friend in a LS and he too was quite shocked because that should not be possible with good gear...well...I looked up their gear and was left speechless.

On the right side they wore a lvl 1 glamour item on the neck and one item on the arm. The rest had nothing...and then I saw that they did not wear a belt and on further inspection I noticed that other than the body everything else was lvl 1 glamour...no wonder that they could not keep aggro. When I asked them why they are wearing barely anything they just told me that they know the dungeon..which does not change the fact that they could not even do their job properly (not taking into account the low amount of DPS they would be doing). The healer too then looked at their gear and was also shocked. If they had at least try to explain it or said sorry then I might have accepted that but their cheeky answers annoyed me enough to start a vote against them and at the second boss she was gone. (Thankfully) We defeated that one without a problem and got a fully geared tank right away. With that we cleared the last part without any aggro problems..

I am not one for doing vote kicks. But I did not want to give her the exp for clearing something in that gear..seemingly she was a main healer (with great equipment) that wanted to lvl a tank now..its just unacceptable in a game where you can go to a NPC and buy anything you need for a bit of gil..with that "gear" she was making the run longer and everyone else needed to do more...I really wish we would have minimum ilvl on every slot..everything even the wrong job items would be better than what she did there.

On a positive note: The new player who was too playing a BLM seemingly learned a bit from me (and I am a noob at that job too) because at first he would never use any of the Lightning buffs but since I always used them he must have seen that and after like half the dungeon started to use it too.

That still intrigues me. Raid roulette and Alex/Omega/Eden have a minimum ilvl to queue, why wouldn't dungeons have one too

Only leveling dungeons don't. And it's been requested a few times but denied. This was even addressed in the recent live letter.

The min il for leveling dungeons is most likely so people can continue the story without being roadblocked. I'm sure it's on more of a good graces idea that those actually queuing in for them are geared up enough, but as we learn from stories in this thread that can not be the case.

My general advice to people who are going to play a job they haven't touched in forever:

-If you have access to squadron command missions, you them to ease yourself into the job.

-PotD/HoH is a good place to basically do some "live-testing" as a healer. You can use your party members as live dummies with minimal risk.

-Incremental dgn play. So try a lvl 50 dgn for a lvl 50 feel, a lvl 60 (I recommend ARF) for a lvl 60 feel, etc.

I called them my three dads the rest of the (wonderful, non-incidental) dungeon. At the end one of them told me 'take care, young popato' and another said 'bye kiddo'.
