Well put, however, the account that took the 88 million gil is still up on lodestone and it seems no action has been taken.

The GMs definitely aren't clamoring to help me now considering the robbery was on wednesday.

In addition, the FC mate was specifically hacked. That's not giving your friend your bank card, that's square enix not providing the basic duty of care to ensure that the person using the account owns the account.

I specifically remember getting locked out of my account when I tried playing on my laptop, that system was annoying but worked, how did this person get away with so much?

Well for hacking GMs and the forums are absolutely the wrong people and place to go, your fc mate should be making sure to go to customer service to find out why this happened and issuing a roll back. If the money was stolen while it was hacked how do you know it was that account that did it? Did they say anything in which case GMs can do something about it or did they just show up around the time and your assuming? Bare in mind the most that can be traded is 1m gil at a time so they did 88 transactions of 1m gil which is traceable by GMs but would require both customer support and GMs to be able to sort out since, GMs would need confirmation that the account was hacked between A time and B time to then trace any activity done in game to get them, This btw would not be a speedy process since they would be looking at a decent amount of activity.

But if it was just another fc member who wasn't hacked who took the money then they could just tell a GM this golden line
"I was allowed to do it"
Nothing the GMs can do about it with that line they were given permission to do it, they did it, no rules were broken in ToS (even if obstruction of play would very much apply here but then they could turn round to the GM if they took it that they broke their own rules which would be great for legal reasons etc), so the only thing you and the fc can do is make stricter rules for next time, you won't receive help for this matter.

He did contact support and get a role back, it just rolled back before the hack and got HIS money back but not the FC money that was taken. For reference here's the series of events.

    1. Hacker logs in to friends account, finds FC chest, realizes he has permission to take out money and withdraws all 60 million
    2. Hacker realizes they can speed up gil laundering time by inviting dummy account (named "Pho Luckey") to FC using friend's account and promotes him to same rank as friend
    3. Hacker deposits Friend's money into FC chest for a total of 88 million
    4. Hacker logs on to dummy account and takes 88 mil from the chest.
    5. Hacker then dismisses dummy account from FC.

We have time stamps showing the money being taken, it's all in the chest activity log, but instead of doing anything about it the GMs just rolled him back to the time before the hacker logged on, if they really cared they could've rolled back to the exact point where the friend would've held all 88 million gil (which chest history shows lasted around 10 minutes).

The GMs refuse to talk to me since I'm a "third party" since the FC chest is "communal" and my account wasn't hacked, I'm technically not a victim despite popping in a good 40 mil of the gil that was stolen.

On the brightside, expect gil prices to drop in phoenix, courtesy of your friendly neighbourhood GMs

i don't blame the gm's for refusing to talk to you,its a matter of your friend got hacked and the actions being done on his account.
he needs to conduct the report and talk to them and even customer support if needed.even if he was hacked its his responsibility to report and the gm's will answer to him what they will do to the hacker and about the things he done while he was on his account.they shouldn't answer to anyone else other then the victim itself.

He's doing what he can, I just feel a bit useless and vulnerable since I was robbed too and I'm being pushed to the sidelines.

This whole "FC chests are communal" bs is just another way of them not wanting to do their jobs. It completely disincentivizes having anything other than a complete dictatorship due to their unwilling nature to put any level of safeguards in the game outside of "only the leader can access the chest" and even then, if someone logs on to YOUR account and makes himself able to steal your FC money/items, does that still make it "communal"?

true, conducting investigations and solutions is a long time but if there is proof that his account was hacked they can check the FC log to see such things.
i think at the activity of fc even removing stuff from FC chest is recorded there, but if not then definitely if during the hacking someone joined by the hacked account and his rank was raised moments later and left almost immediately after then not only is it recorded but also proof that person was working with the hacker to steal the money (be it dummy account or otherwise).
