SMN Quests are really difficult after changes

It’s just these specific SMN Job Quests. Ive had no problem elsewhere. Level 60 SMN quest “a book with bite” and 63 “performing for prin”
Same problem as everyone else has described. It seems the quests assume Titan to tank or hold aggro but he doesn’t.

I did nothing special, that's the thing, so it must be you doing something wrong but you refuse to answer me so I can't help.

If you are in level appropriate gear, meaning you are in lvl 61 or lvl 63 gear when doing those quests, and are dying really fast then I would say there is something wrong with the quest. You shouldn't need to be in lvl 70 or 80 gear for a lvl 61 quest. I would say try to pull one enemy at a time. Make sure you are using your trance to have instant casts. Other than that all SMN has is DoTs and you need to have those up or Ruin suffers.

My item level on my gear is 211. Doing the usual openers of setting / reapplying DoTs and spamming Ruin3 when Trance is up. In between Trances its all egi abilities and Energy Drain -> Fester/Pain Flare and more Ruin3

I'm afraid I don't know what lvl Ilvl 211 gear is lol. If you are unable to pull one enemy at a time I would say make sure you have Garuda out, keeping the enemies Baned, and spaming Outburst. You could try Titan and staggering his shield but he's single target. I had SMN at 70 before SHB launched and don't really remember those quests at all. I've never liked SMN and still don't so if it's not your main job you could always put it on the back burner till they make the changes they are going to make in 5.8 or 5.1.

At level 60 there is poetic gear in idyllshire that's ilvl 260 and 270 if you upgrade it. The gear upgrades should make the quests pretty simple.

Maybe it's the gear problem.

This. Black mage I just kept in mostly 50's gear, did quests on level 50-62 and ignored regearing. Summoner is highly dependent upon gear (Titan's shield on HP% and overall damage) and now a well-built chocobo (something I've never bothered with) for those intermediate levels. Black mage also has Sleep which trivializes the class quests regardless of gear.

The change was for better, old Titan-egi couldn't even keep aggro on enemies so it was useless at high level. Now you have an oGCD shield every 30 seconds with 2 base charges, unless you are overlapping and wasting the shields you should be fine in any solo content.

Titan was fine at holding aggro if you managed your DPS like you should for any tank.
