In the real world, there is a legal test called expectation of privacy. It basically means there's no reasonable expectation of privacy in a certain area, general public areas mainly. Not sure how that would translate to the world of Hydaelyn.

In the real world upskirting is also a crime in most places. US law varies so much by jurisdiction that I don’t want to generalize but I wouldn’t suggest being the fool to test it. Where it isn’t a crime yet is only because so far folks have been prosecuted under other charges or maybe have a state senator that likes hanging out in shopping malls... It is a crime in Korea, and I suspect also Japan (which is a much more conservative society than anime makes outsiders think it is, and in this regard the conservatism is likely to give women privacy rather than restrict it).

So... be careful about carting out “reasonable expectations of privacy” ideas informed by badly written online fanfic...

Not saying it isn't their fault but you are making yourself a target. "Taliban" has nothing to do with it, I'm merely accounting for basic human nature.
The "dresses" you wear (more like undressing the char about as much as the game lets you do) and the character design are meant to exploit it anyway.

Once you're assumed to be an ideological enemy you#re officially a target. I had people actively trying to bait me into saying something that's reportable ^^ Usually when you see something that really crosses a line and report is you move on with your day without a second thopught. It's only the crowd that takes everything personal that gets a sick thrill out of going "Ha! Gotcha! Who's the boss now huh? Who's the boss?!" ^^

Nobody excused anything, they just explained why it was happening and why they can expect it. At no point did they say harassment is okay. It's like if you go into a bad neighborhood holding wads of cash in your hands where anyone can see, you cant be shocked if a homeless person comes up to you and begs for money. You have every right to tell them to piss off and be annoyed at them, but it's also something you probably should have seen coming.

As I said: I play a Miqo'te girl for 5 years now and never even got a compliment.
So it's valid to assume that there is a correlation between how you dress and how people perceive you/approach you.
I never excused their behavior and people that actually do harass other players should be reported.
I merely gave a potential reason why she was a target.
Whether people want to believe it or not, how we carry ourselves has consequences.
