Wait until you learn that there's NSFW mods for most of your favorite outfit, and you'll discover that they're not taking panty shots. There might not even be panties on their screen at all!

I've learned to avoid certain outfits in the game just because I've seen what other folks have done to them. This isn't to shame the creative community. They do them, but I just want to know what I wear looks like what I want it to be on everyone's screen. So a lot of times I'll wear Scion adventurer's jacket and dress pants.

No you are not the only one that finds it creepy. Because It is creepy! Sure it's pixels but if it were JUST pixels then what would be the issue with having underage races. I assume it's because SE doesn't want folks to get their perv on in their game.

However I wouldn't let that stop you from glamouring how you want. Just be aware of where you are at.

I often get random PM's which can be really annoying from time to time.
Or I could always expect someone using the ''pat'' emote in large towns like Limsa and Gridania.
It does not really bother me but sometimes the creep vibes gets real.

What I wish we could do is if we had options of wearing long shorts under skirts. I remember the shock I had when I got the full melee outfit that had a skirt from that ghost boat dungeon from SB early in the story and was wearing it. Then all of a sudden I did a move that revealed my underwear. I was disappointed and had to change it. It looks cool when standing still, but it reveals too much while fighting.

I don't think peoples clothes should be an issue ever clothing both in game and out of game is how one expresses themselves some days people wake up and feel hey I want to be pretty or cute and they go for what they feel fits that criteria only to have some prude with parochial archaic beliefs projecting thier own damage on them and blaming them for what they wear. Or Pervos going yeah ey baby who you belong to? Sometimes I just want to be able to wear my summer joi with my flower in the hair and flower band hairstyle set cause it's cute and has leggings but then I get the above situation happening and I go back to whatever I was wearing previously feeling pretty dejected or disgusted.

It's a no win situation.

That's what has me hilariously confused. It really doesn't take much at all to spend a few bucks for a fantasia and have your own fancy lvl 70-80 doll with all your achievements kept. Hells, its being advertised right now with that lala-to-Viera ad!

The biggest issue with this is that it 'objectifies' one's character. It's easy for some people to hand-wave the issue away as it's 'just pixels,' but it's important to remember that for many people--their character is a digital representation of themselves. And anything that represents one's identify should not be objectified. Because you can't (you shouldn't) treat someone like an object.

With that being said, I have no issue with someone making their own character sexy and undressing them. That's their character, and they get to decide what to do with them. But it's ethically wrong to disrespect another individual by objectifying their character. And this doesn't even get into the social issues revolving around equality or even those who suffer from PTSD being on the receiving end of such behavior. (in RL)

I remember having a stern debate with one of my FC mates, because he liked to use an emote that was basically 'steals your panties and runs away with them." He was just a young kid in his teens, and was being playfully cute based off the behaviors he saw on anime. He had no idea as a guy what it meant to be objectified or even be on the receiving end of such behavior. He just thought it was something cute that people did in anime, and thus was acceptable behavior in-game. He and I never saw eye to eye on the topic, but I strongly suggested he cut it out, as it's the kind of behavior that can get you suspended from the game. Being as a custom emote is easily reportable and this specific one violated the ToS, because it could be seen as sexual harassment.

The bottom line though, is that while lewd behavior itself isn't wrong. It's wrong to force another into a situation they're not comfortable in without their consent. As individuals--we're entitled (yes, I said entitled) to our bodies. We're entitled to our identity, and we're entitled to the base-line of respect and dignity that comes with being a human being. People are not objects, and should never be sexually objectified. Unless they're into that. But that still requires consent.
