Has anyone quit healing?

It really highlights the problem when 90% of my uptime is Bio + Broilx9 and Eos looks just as bored as I do.

That's not entirely accurate.

If we have any healing to do at all, at least one of those broils will be replaced by a Ruin II. If we have no healing at all to do, we could replace at least one of those broils with a Ruin II + ED. :P

(But yeah, I miss having Miasma as well...and Bane....)

I still main healer. The core gameplay is still the same, even though some aspects have changed. I just have more fun playing healers over dps (and also tanks over dps). I main WHM, so not so much was taken from me this expansion, but I also don't mind what they did with SCH and AST actually. Maybe because I'm already used to what WHM had before.

No but I don't do anything more than a daily drex and my 4 normal raids on my healer.

I still heal for friends and in PF, hunts and the like if needed. I am a healer at heart (and actually also one IRL), so you could say healing is not something I do but what I -am-.

So quitting... no. But if before I played like 90%+ healer and only switched to other jobs if that was needed by friends/party... now it is limited to "if I am leveling the job (mostly via MSQ roulette where I can at least officially take a nap) or if it is really needed for the team."

It has been pointed out here in the forum that the dev team for jobs is only 4 people "strong". It seems healers are designed only from the perspective of the healed, not the healer. And from what I've seen all concerns are either utterly ignored or brushed away with astonishing... hm... attitude.

HW definitely had "healer issues" (poor AST at launch...), and 4.0 turned my white mage into a salt mage. Now, after years of seeing healers and healing getting treated with what feels like an afterthought and/or very questionable design decisions I think everything from the mediatour for 5.0 to -- as the final straw -- the last live letter has killed any remaining faith in me that things might get better except by accident, and with it also killed most of the joy I once had in playing what feels like my natural role... ah WHM back in 3.0 when I started playing you as my first job, how I miss thee...

Am I happy about this, and the results? No. It has significantly reduced my joy and thus motivation to play this game (together with photosensitivity issues all but locking me out of a seizable chunk of ShB as addressed in this post) as a whole, when in the past I got excited to hit that log-in button every day.

I'm spending most of my time (when not gathering/crafting or RPing) on BRD now, and might play around a bit with MCH, too, if my high latency doesn't ruin it for me. DNC looks remotely interesting as well. As interesting as a DPS job can actually feel to me...

This morning I logged on to get my expert done before the reset, saw healer in need and switched to sch. But then I hesitated and thought no, I'll just wait for the dps queue. So yeah healing is a chore now, I'll do it for my friends i guess, but i don't really want to if i don't have to.

Still playing healers 90% of time but I dont enjoy it as much as pre SHB. And I switched my main from AST to WHM.

Oh and I was originally planning to join static but changed my mind because of the changes. Because of that I am not playing this game as much. In the end I might quit the game entirely and return to SWTOR after the new update.

It's not just you -- I noticed an increase in toxicity as well (mainly in DF), as did several of my friends I talked with about this topic. Maybe we all just were unlucky with DF there or are more sensitive to increases in toxicity others would barely notice, but it definitely also has soured for me going as healer or tank unless it's premades, and in general made me become pretty DF-abstinent. Thank the heavens for playing with friends, for Trust NPCs, and other means to get tomestones...

Havent quit entirely but was actually falling asleep a majority of the time while playing scholar. I leveled dancer first purely out of hype and interest and decided to go to level my scholar for quick ques and stuff but god its been awful i stopped at level 78. Tried ast and having a lot more fun with that because it feels like i have more to press which is weird because I didnt really like ast all that much in SB or HW. My main is however now DNC for sure but i do plan to finish leveling and use AST at end game just for the quick ques to funnel gear and resources into my DNC.

I started with White Mage but when I unlocked Astrologian I mained that. I enjoyed the old card system. The new system isn’t fun with only 2 actual cards now (ranged/melee dps buff). White Mage just feels like the smoothest healer job now with its big potency heals and smoother dps than the other two jobs.

Helping friends who started playing (1 is a healer) has gotten me into Machinist. I’m enjoying it and Bard as well. I may get into Dancer.
