    MMOs have a long history of badly named abilities...

    I am actually surprised this one got past localization. SE has maybe the best English localization team I have ever seen but they have made some mistakes before, like the job name Paladin. This one is another, albeit more minor one in my opinion. That said I wonder if it has the same name in Japanese.

    Blasting Zone is intentionally named. That was Squall's next to last Limit Break in FF8. Most of the job's abilities are based on a mixture of different techniques Squall and Seifer employed throughout that game. Its name is the same in both. As for why they called the weaker version Danger Zone, I'm guessing it's because areas marked off as danger zones are far enough from blasting zones not to endanger people with the explosions but could still possibly pelt them with debris.
