Choosing not to reward you isn't punishment. That's choosing not to reward you. Punishment would be something like kicking you from the group.
If me rolling 'need' on gear because you are is punishment, what is you rolling 'need' on gear because you can?

I thought it was universal across MMO's that the need button is actually the greed button.![]()

Made a 100k gil dancing half naked in the beehive in Eulmore...As a male character!
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”
― Oscar Wilde

Im just going to come right out and say it and its probably going to make a few people pissed but hey, theres already enough of us doing it. Few more who read this is going to be small.
I see youre on Crystal DC.
Join the Centurio Hunt discord, and do hunt trains. You can make 3m per hour/hr and a half with them since there are so many players doing it, so a full train may last 90 minutes or less only.
You said you fall asleep gathering, this you will not. Besides the rate of gil per hour doing this exceeds anything except for MB waiting.
Take all the Goetia from one train, buy items in eulmore for goetia once train is over, sell items on MB, easy 1 million gil.
Take all the cluster drops, convert them in eulmore into whatever materia is selling good on your server, another 1.5-2.5 mil.
All within 90 minutes.
Proceed to upgrade all your gear to 450 since you can afford it now for only 90 minutes of a hunt train. Repeat process 1 more time and use all the clusters to put materia on your own crap, problems solved. Repeat as needed for greed.
As a gatherer, I can attest that the income is low on crystal DC because people are stupid and dont know how to cut by a penny, they cut by 80% multiple times until a 3000 gil item is only 70 gil.
Dont do it until SE handles the bot problem if ever. I make money on it but no where near as fast as 3m per hour doing hunt trains.
And yeah, maps are a waste of time. They are like going to a casino. They are fun but you typically are not going to come out ahead in the end. The above is guaranteed money for your time, and requires 0 effort into gather or crafting roles, just be lvl 80 thats it.
Do not think discord links can be posted here.
Just try to keep an eye on your party finder (world) during daytime hours, noon til midnight for hunt trains, If you see it, join them, then ask for a discord link.
They run 12 hours of the day pretty much, they do a train > swap servers > repeat all day.
If you went ahead and just dedicated an entire day off to trains you could easily make 15 mil +
Be sure to thank Melodius for putting this together for Crystal.
P.s. if people can stop high jacking the thread for personal bs thatd be great. Stop arguements and crap like sell your body, someone asked a legitimate question and theres like 3 legit responses in 6 pages. Is it toddler hour?

No one said it makes you poor, only that it is what you do to make your first small fortune so you can start flipping on the MB for greater profits, which is an inavailable option if you don’t have the resources to dominante a part of the market if needed be.

Oh, really? I thought ppl were just being smartas*es lol.
Yikes, glad Im not on Mateus!
A few gil tips for new players.
At lv30 crafter you unlock Desynth. Mass quick-synth Brass Rings of Crafting (using vendor mats at the Armorer Guild in Limsa) and desynth them for a chance of a Field Demimateria. Prices vary but they're 22k a pop on my realm and the mats are near-free.
Housing vendor furniture (Oasis furniture) costs about 2k from the vendor, yet can sell from anywhere between 5-30k. Other easy items are Soot Black/Snow white dye from the Ixal or Steel Ingot from the Amal'jaa and many Dyes. It's a nice starting-off profit.
Mostly unrelated but we had a market crash in Siren the last week ish where everyone undercut eachother and dropped all the prices of things like dirt cheap lol. So things that were going for 10k+ were suddenly just a couple hundred gil. The market has stabilized a bit now, but it’s still zimbabwe over here
