    Ways to make Gil?

    Good morning,

I'm struggling trying to figure out how to make gil while also doing things I enjoy. I like running Treasure maps but I've noticed the solo maps never drop anything worth while but the ones that recommend 8 people do. Outside of running those with my sister, when she's online, I can't seem to find a way that's enjoyable.

Is the only way to make gil efficiently is by gathering jobs?... I'm struggling trying to keep myself entertained while going at doing those. After about 10 or 15 minutes, I just go back to Extreme's or running Dungeons.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you

I'm not into crafting, but I level my gatheres except for fisher to max level. I'm not as rich as a lot of other people are, but I'm currently sitting at ~23 Mil gil doing the following things:

    - Gather the 8 man treasure map everyday (/every time I'm online) and sell it on the market board, unless I know that I'm running maps in the next few days.
    - Sell the items I get from my retainers.
    - Sell items from ex trials / potd / hoh
    - Sell materia I don't need
    - Sell crystals that are needed for crafting (!)
    - Run daily roulettes
    - When the beast tribe for the gatherers and crafters was released in Stormblood, there was one item that sold really well. I don't remember the name, I think it was something containing the word "god". I did my daily beast tribe quests with my gatherers, got that item and sold it on the market board.

That's basically it, more or less.
Certainly not the best way to make money, but at least I'm not poor and can buy some things I want xD

Level up gatherers and sell the mats. They sell often but maybe not for the highest cost. Especially if you seek out Levequest items and GC turn in items and gather them in HQ. Consistent income

Retainer Quick Ventures can sometimes be fruitful in what they return.

Instead of vendoring, go to Doma and donate for a multiplier bonus to your vendor amount, resets each week.

If playing through the msq you get a lot of HQQ gear you can sell off. Just check the Market board for the best item to sell off of the available options for the quest completion and pick that when you finish the quest.

Likewise, in Shadowbringers you get a coffer for a specific level and gear piece. It is based on the job you are when you open it. SO if you get the level 78 head coffer and the casting head piece sells for the highest, open it as a caster and sell. If it's dragoon, open as a dragoon and sell. Likewise for all the other coffers you get. Takes time but can net you a lot of income and is also a good free GC turn in/Leve quest turn in if you don't need the gear. It can take time but if you have some time spare and some coffers left just browse the jobs and see what sells highest. Open in that job and sell it.

Spend hours of your day browsing the Marketboard looking for that 1 person to miss a 0 off the end of their listing xD Night Pegasus selling for £3m? Don't mind me lol - semi serious suggestion.

Stormsap? Was the mat used to make the Lvl 70 Onishi crafting set. Or a component of it. Not sure how well that would sell now though but if levelling crafters and gatherers up to 70 using them then why not once you got the mount. It's all money even if it's only selling for 5k a piece, you'll get hundreds of tokens during the levelling process.

Let the npc identify the items and sell whatever you don't need / want on the market board. My best one so far was the mount from hoh which got me more than 10 mil gil

Maybe that was it, I'm not sure. I play the game in german so I'm not too familiar with the english names.

If you’d like to make some Gil quickly it might be worth considering the tomestone (Goetia) crafting materials. You won’t be making massive amounts of money but they sell quickly and frequently, so it’s good for making small amounts fast. Personally I find my always capping on tomestines so there’s always scope to get more

I tend to be a 'broke' player (I only have 10-50mil most of the time, and that's as an omnicrafter), but once you hit cap, I've found a few different ways to at least keep a slight positive...an ultra-lazy way to make gil, if you will:

1.) Do whatever dungeons/trials you were going to do. Roll 'greed' on all the gear you don't need for upgrades. (Rolling 'need' if you don't need it is rude, and not recommended.)
2.) Prior to patch 5.1, if you haven't already, level desynthesis and break those items down. If you're unlucky, you might get a mat worth only 500-1000 gil. If you're moderately unlucky, you might get clear demimateria (vendors for 5k gil). What you're really aiming for here, though, is Battlecraft Materia III. This regularly goes as high as 12.5k each week, sells pretty quickly and regularly, and you can get more than one per piece you break down.

Using these two alone, I can easily make 50-100k in a day without even so much as trying. However, this might change in 5.1 when desynth no longer has levels and anybody can do it.

3.) Gather maps. You can get one every day if you have a lv75+ gatherer that sells for roughly another 100k, and sells pretty quickly.
4.) Turn in goetia for mats to sell to high level crafters. I don't know the exact exchange rate offhand (I neither buy nor sell in that market [I'm lazy, remember]), but I did see just last night somebody offering a million gill for 2k goetia worth of mats. That would imply it's worth at least that, if not more.
5.) Level and send out your retainers. Quick exploration in particular is my favorite choice here, as while it's not always consistent, it can give you items that go for hundreds of thousands of gil, or even millions in rare scenarios. To fun ventures for your retainers, take the items you can't desynth, turn them in to your GC for seals, and use the seals to buy more ventures.

At this point you should have a decent baseline economy going. It won't make you rich (roughly 1-2mil/week), but it will fund any gil needs you have for almost everything the game has to offer.

6.) Custom Deliveries. Buy mats/materia, and sell them. This should add another decent chunk of change to your wallet.
7.) Wondrous Tails. The rewards can be sold.
8.) Sell those extra materia you don't need (particularly grade 6/7/8)
9.) if you can get enough gil for grade 6 materia, convert poetics into materia. If not, convert poetics into demicrystals and vendor for roughly 15k gil/800 poetics.

This should be enough while being lazy, but now you can start trying to build gil (for large purchases, for example)

10.) Level crafters to at least 10 levels below cap. This is practically free between GC turnins and beast tribes, and allows you to repair your own gear basically for free (and on the fly, to boot!). A gil saved is a gil earned.
11.) Level crafters to cap. Now you can meld your own stuff, too.
12.) Do some research into how to 100% HQ crafted recipes. HQ stuff and sell it. However, be wary of crystal costs, etc.
13.) Learn to play the MB.

Once you've done these, you'll probably be far richer than me (I'm broke, after all). Good luck with your gil. However, bad news: it's pretty much worthless after the first 50mil unless you're going hardcore into glamour/housing.

Gathering is for poor people. It turns time into gil at an inefficient rate, albeit a rate that's better than just about anything you can do with a battle class (besides run 8 person maps efficiently, but that still requires crafting for maximum profit). There are times certain nodes are worth hitting for basically anyone, but those are generally very limited opportunities and don't last long.

Crafting is a step above gathering, provided you know how to use it effectively.

Flipping is the true endgame. It requires the most investment of existing capital, but the least amount of time and yields huge profit if you do it well.

A question: What do you need the money for?

I am also almost always comparably poor (right now I think 660,000 Gil). I used to be very much under pressure because of my funds ingame. That stopped as soon as I realized I do not need that much actually. I am just running my dailies, roulettes and some story quests, I could so far afford gear, Materia and all that stuff that got me always further in the story or at least a significant improvement with the Gils I made inbetween.

Apart from FC house related things, are you sure you even need those Gil?

If it's a personal sort of highsore you want to achieve then I can't help you. Or levelling crafters or something for the materials. But you are Level 80, so you should've figured out that Gil are not that super important as it's just a minor currency (compared to e.g. Tokens or Tomestones). Just to take off some pressure of your chest of the actual "need" to make Gil.
