I was talking to some other players I know and I got told from someone that we don't know tell me "Since I didn't clear Savage yet I am considered a trash player....I replied "I am working on clearing it" you would think that would be enough and for them to go away...nope broke out with this tirade saying "I am what makes this community and game garbage" (edited for the forum) and a few other choice words (FYI he bought his account as we found out later on. We reported and blocked him and moved on, but it's still that mentality is what is going to drag this community down even more, bad enough we have players coming from the most toxic MMO ever, don't they realize that there brand of BS isn't gonna fly here...and why don't other people tell them to stfu when they start acting like this... Just want a non trolling answer on this cause this actually made me grind my teeth a little..
Things like this existed in game as far back as 1.0 and the dawn of "Primal Ally". Continued on through ARR. "LFM, AK/WP. Must have relic weapon" and has always gone on and will continue to go on. Some people are just jerks and need to have something to hold over others heads to make them feel good about themselves or something to make them special since its all they have. It's sad really, but it is what it is, it's just best to walk away and forget they were even a thing. Especially since just clearing savage is....not a very impressive thing and the ones that want to hold savage clears over others heads is best taken with a grain of salt. If its just a random person...Did they learn the fight with others and worked hard for the clear? Did they buy the clear? Did they just get lucky and scrape by a clear? Did they spend the whole fight on the floor and basically got carried for the clear? You or nobody else knows so it's not worth the stress. It was a lesson learned a long time ago. A player on our server bought a clear for something I forget, then went and made an "experienced only" farm party. After that I stopped taking random XYZ players savage clears seriously, let alone seriously enough to wear me down to where I can't enjoy the game as I do. I never did savage anything and never really cared about it either. Still I play and enjoy time with friends without a savage worry about.

Thanks to the other mmorpgs we already know the answer, there is no line at all, and there is toxicity running towards people who are not bad but just average.

There is always that one guy who is going to be better than you on certain job, will you be fine to be told by him that you are "super noob go play hello kitty online"? Lets assume You are hitting green-blue colour in logs, and the guy is violet-orange, because the guy is cherry picking his logs and upload only the best ones and you are playing with someone who is uploading them all or you upload it yourself. The real difference may not be big between you and him, but on the site it is shown as big and it is an ammunition to use against you.
If you let people harras each other over numbers its not going to stop on gray color, greens will be called out for being bad and blues.
Just like in WoW, they are often kicking people from the dungeon because someone is below 50%, is this okay for you?
The number you pull in ACT and logs is a combination of all variables not only your skill. Sometimes you will do terribly bad and these logs are going to spoil your performance on the site, reducing it down to green or blue and sometimes you are not going to have any control over what its being shown on the site about your character...
By accepting harrassment by the logs you are allowing toxic people to judge you over your logs even before you start your duty.

This is going only one way, and it is going to increase the toxicity in the game on all levels of play.
I dont think you understand FFlogs, the number out the end will almost always be a reflection of your skill unless a healer let you die or something whack like that, also a few bad logs wont take away from the fact it will always show you your best run on your page as well as your average. Also with the new rdps ranking its hard to pad your logs now, so they are a much more accurate reflection of your skill

This too and its this kind of behavior that makes older members of the community blame WoWrefugees for this kind of thing because 2018 was the downward spiral of said game which its not thier fault aside form the toxic ones that came over. It's kind of a vicious circle but seriously the behavior of alot of those question posters is outright shameful and arrogant especially when they were politely asked and reminded to be respectful.

There a different types of toxic people, and FFXIV is no exception to MMOS, when it comes to toxic behavior. I don't buy into the great community thing, because plenty of MMOs had people nice on the surface at least. That said, each game has good and bad players, in terms of toxic behavior. You cannot look at it as black and white. It's not all the raiders, nor all the casuals, or even the newbies or mentors. I've seen raiders/mentors help newbies/casuals (yes, I can tell if someone raids) and get appreciation and adjustment back. I've seen raiders/mentors be nice and offer advice, and get a nasty response. I've seen newbies/ casuals ask for advice and receive good advice. I've also seen newbies ask, and get absolutely nothing (I can't type advice if the mentor tank pulls, as I'm terrible at typing while fighting), and when they die the mentor ridicules them and may blame them for a possible wipe. There are also toxic people that give subpar advice or direction and refuse to be corrected. This is more common in Frontlines and Rivals Wings than any PvE content, but it happens in PvE as well. Gotta love when when someone tells your grand company to go for the middle of the Seal Rock map. :/

Actually, compared to other games I've come from, this community is pretty tame.

I mean, sure we have our stalkers, creepers, passive-aggressive twits, and elitists. But at least I'm not told to get cancer on a daily basis like I was in Dead By Daylight.

Community has always been passive-aggressive. Extremely so. In-game or forums, went over this yesterday. This game, in my opinion, has one of the worst communities in a game I have played. Trash talk is one thing, but people get really personal, and take everything as a personal insult here.

The community here, the so called "great community" is full of gatekeepers in one form as well. They take any kind of criticism of the game (not even them) as a direct insult to them, and get mad.

I've been playing MMOS since I was a teen, and I'm in my 30s. Plenty are MMOS are like this one, if not nicer. This is not an exception. Even PKing (open world pvp) doesn't prevent people from being nice.

Unfortunately, I have seen what Sturm is saying quite often.
