Yeah, thats certainly EXACTLY how that happened...Tried explaining to them how Tenacity is a good stat for tanks for almost every situation except Current Endgame Raids with DPS checks, only got flamed some more xD.

Ive seen ppl bash full Tenacity tanks because they dont run full Direct Hit in dungeons and raids who the hell gives a fuck it's a minor increase in dps but loss in defense play how you want.
Parry used to be the shit stat for tanks but then they added Tenacity wich isnt even that bad of stat, it's just that everyone that focuses on FFlogs who can do the highest numbers and brag about it, are on about using Direct Hit for tanks and Healers.

The irony here is that the person you're quoting tried to use outdated data/videos to show how Tenacity is superior, and still when that was pointed out and newer data was shown, they continued their point. They also were the first flaming and calling other people toxic. There was no "Raiders shaming casuals".Honestly...hearing this is just so hilarious to me personally because both I and one of my FC mates (one of the best Tanks I've ever seen, and I've been playing since beta) meld Tenacity and tank end-game content together flawlessly. We've even had many of our groupmates commend us on our performance...so hearing that people are trying to shame Tanks who meld Tenacity in particular is honestly embarrassing. Honestly, if the reason a group is failing DPS checks is due to Tanks not having the pitiful amount of extra Dmg melding crit/dh give, then there is a huge problem in that group that needs to be identified. Tanks shouldn't be relied upon to that extent to save DPS checks. The extra mitigation that Tenacity gives isn't mind-blowing, but it's so valuable imo because even if it's just by a fraction, it still helps Tanks in their primary role: protecting their group. And this will always come first to me.
These shamers pose as the Elite, but their blindness will ensure they stay mediocre.
Also reiterating the main point: the extra mitigation you get from Tenacity doesn't save you from mistakes and it doesn't save the healers any GCDs, they still will have to use the same number of casts to heal the tank.
Funny, i did the exact same pull i did in The Twinning today, while using a Pentamelded Ilvl450 Crafted gear with Direct Hit melds, and died 3 times. The pull was before the 2nd boss and after the 2nd boss. The White mage couldnt keep me alive against 2 packs of mobs. After i died the 3rd time i swapped to my Tenacity set and i didnt even drop down below 100k HP.The irony here is that the person you're quoting tried to use outdated data/videos to show how Tenacity is superior, and still when that was pointed out and newer data was shown, they continued their point. The problem with the Raider's thinking is, they don't realize, Direct Hit melds only work if your queuing up with geared ppl who know what they're doing. Also, most ppl don't parse, so they don't care about Tank's DPS. What they do care thou, is the tank being tanky, so the healer can DPS instead of spamming Adloquim/Cure II on the tank.
Yes, we get it, you guys raid and are stuck with Direct Hit for your melds, but stop saying Tenacity is a useless stat and blaming the healers when you die from a 2 pack pull on the Twinning.
The Dev's should change Direct Hit so its doesn't affect Tank jobs to make it easier for them to figure that out.

Eh, I'm not one to shame, if they doing fine I leave them be. If it's ridiculous I might politely tell them, but I don't make a habit of being rude to party members unless they being an a-hole l.
Though I fully accept the shaming my friend does to me from Heavensward. Full str accessories, as much str and DPS boosting melds on my new 60 undergeared DRK and leave her to heal me. She still has PTSD until this day. I had less HP than the DPS. I am a terrible person.
If things were as you're trying to make them out to be, tanks wouldn't be able to do wall-to-wall pulls in these dungeons in unmelded AF gear while healers in similar gear are DPSing their heart out. If you're having trouble with surviving these pulls, the issue is most definitely somewhere else than your melds (or lack thereof).Funny, i did the exact same pull i did in The Twinning today, while using a Pentamelded Ilvl450 Crafted gear with Direct Hit melds, and died 3 times. I've never looked at anyone's materia. and even if I knew how, I wouldn't have any idea what's right for jobs different from mine. Actually, I'm still not sure what's right for my job either.

Did you just assume ilvl430 unmelded tanks don't wipe on The Twinning? Maybe if you actually solo queued you would know lol. As for the OP's thread "Do ppl shame others for their materia melds", we found one Shamer right here lol.If things were as you're trying to make them out to be, tanks wouldn't be able to do wall-to-wall pulls in these dungeons in unmelded AF gear while healers in similar gear are DPSing their heart out. It clearly proves Tenacity melds is the best for solo queue casual content for Tanks. Casual content being 95% of the entire content in the game lol. It gives you room to adjust and support your team instead of just being a 3rd DPS, because that's basically what a Direct Hit Melded Tank is, a 3rd DPS.
Like in Overwatch. Direct Hit melded Tanks are like a Reinhardt that doesn't use his Shield, just uses his hammer to kill the enemy team leaving his teammates up for grabs to the enemy team. Tenacity Tanks are more like a Rein that holds his shield up when needed and swings his hammer when necessary.

Tenacity is perfectly fine in anything below Savage and even there it has seen use on progression. Full Tenacity is something like a 5% damage reduction but 1-2% less damage than full DH. That damage reduction can have some use in less predictable content like dungeons or messy pugs. But ultimately there's very little difference between either.
The reason DH is used is because every % counts on tight enrage timers at the high end and once you have the mechanics down, your healers ogcd's are more than enough and your own cd's are planned for each tankbuster, 5% reduction makes no difference. But tight enrage timers don't apply to Normal or even EX which are quite lenient or give you all the time in the world.
People spouting off against Tenacity in Normal content are parroting info they've read on guides without any understanding of the reasoning behind it.
Yes. I'm not asking you to use all 7's or 8's but I would like to see more correct stats used. None of this piety on BLM or tanks melding +0 red stats.
