I hate this mentality more than anything else in this game.

Should League of Legends not make new champions because the current pool isn't 100% balanced? Should Pokemon stop introducing new Pokemon just because the power tiers are so drastically divided?

Not only is it an awful idea to repeatedly deny the healing player base access to more options just because the current ones aren't in perfect harmony, adding a 4th healer actually would make balancing easier. With more options comes more opportunities for different healer pairs to complement each other in different ways, meaning there are more combinations to consider that can potentially compete with one another for the status of "optimal." It was literally one of the reasons Square gave for why Gunbreaker was made a tank, so it would be easier for all tanks to thrive rather than always have a 3rd wheel that felt left out.

Ignoring dupes (AA, BB, CC, DD)...

We would be going from: AB, AC, BC

to: AB, AC, AD, BC, BD, CD

We would literally be doubling the possible combinations, thus allowing more room for different pairs to shine.

The problem isn't that they're not perfectly balanced, the problem is they can't make healers both balanced and fun to play. Pokemon is both capable of making mons that are cool looking and ones that are effective in stats, and even then, that game focuses almost purely on the single player experience, where balance is not nearly as big of a concern, and even then, those games have devolved so much in difficulty that you could beat the entire game with nothing but a team of 6 furrets if you wanted to. Any multiplayer in those games is an afterthought.

I would LOVE a 4th healer, I'm a healer main myself, and I'm great at the role, but I want them to actually be capable of fixing the ones they have because I don't want a 4th healer that's just as boring to play as the 3 we have.

Also, league as a basis for your argument. LMAO, that game is way too focused on skins and getting as much money as possible. It is notorious for its lack of balance, and is one of the biggest reasons that people continue to leave the game, and is why it has dropped significantly in recent years. So yeah, I do think they need to focus more on balance rather than just releasing a new champion as often as possible, or about making the newest ultimate skin, or w/e the hell they're doing these days. Maybe if they focused on fixing their game people wouldn't be leaving that game in droves.

edit: as for the whole "they added a tank to better balance out the 3 they have" argument, yes, they're all balanced, but I don't know if you've been in the tank communities lately, but they have a lot of issues with the current iteration of tanks as well, the biggest ones being that they all essentially play the same with nothing to distinguish really any of them, this is especially evident with DRK and WAR, they're practically the same class just with different animations. If that is the route they would take to give us a 4th healer, no thanks. Focus on upping the 3 we have and making them both fun and unique first, then maybe consider a 4th.

You dont learn to juggle by starting with 4 balls, you start with 2, work up to 3, then 4 etc etc. If you can't juggle 3 balls yet, why would you throw a 4th in the mix

Make SCH great again! Seriously though, we just want our class to be fun and engaging again, not OP, is that too much to ask for?

Sadly, the issue isn't balancing. Arguably healers are currently better balanced, but SE aren't doing a very good job with keeping the healers feeling unique due to homogenisation and aren't keeping them fun, the changes over the last couple of expansions has resulted in many healer complaints. I wanted a 4th healer this time around and hoped for it to be Dancer, as somebody who now mains Dancer & as a former healer main, I am glad they didn't, because it'd be the same hot mess as the healer job I left to go play DNC.

If it was a balancing issue then I'd be with you. Given after the announcement we weren't getting a 4th healer yet I made the same argument "it could help out balancing issues".

As for desires for next healer job. Geomancy is a potential one I'd get behind, though I think they're tied lorewise to CNJ? Maybe too close. But eh, that wouldn't bother me.

I'd also like "Chemist" but taking my friend's idea, have them be called "Medicus" instead and be a Garlean-based job. Follow under the footsteps of Chemist in other FF titles, but have more of a tech aesthetic and tie in with a Garlean theme to make it appropriate. All of our healers are currently magic based, so a tech-based one could be interesting. We have a tech-based DPS, just got a tech-based tank, so why not a tech-based healer too?
