When do the training wheels come off?

I am by no means a perfect player but I wonder about some of these "new" players. Trying to level up ninja, running leveling roulette, end up in garuda 4man. Get a level 44 gladiator yes gladiator. My ninja has more hp. His gear is a mix of caster, dow gear and 2 tank pieces all below level 35. Tank runs in can't stay still and all 4 party members are taking turns tanking.
Takes 2 attempts to finish and when we finish I get on to the tank and the healer jumps in cause hes new.
If you only have 1 class shouldn't you know the ins and outs of the class. Square has made the game so much easier giving messages to do job quests, not requiring leveling a second class to unlock a job. How does one get a tank that high and be so bad.
Thats 2 primals and about 7 dungeons he got through to unlock the fight. So they either got carried by a high level friend or "nice" party members and when they should have been kicked and taught how to play the hard way and or found a game more suited to them. So what is the cut off for "new".
This also leads to fun on things like expert roulettes in AA I was healing and got a ninja and a black mage who could only single target and not use half of their kit. Ninja most used huton and 1,2,3 combo only aoe in about 2 fights. Black mage only used fire 4, no flares, 1 thunder 4 maybe 1 foul not even any fire 2s.
I get people are "new" and am willing to help if I can but you can only help the willing, and covering for their faults instead of calling them on it only makes it worse in my experience.

Sometimes you just get unlucky with drops. Maybe that was the best gear he had for his spec. Given the presence of a "recommend" button on your equipment panel, I don't see any other explanation.

A level 15 shield is not unlucky, its lazy. Quest rewards, vendors and the marketboard exist.

And it doesn't explain his constant erratic movement, you can't dodge auto attacks by bobbing and weaving.

Which one of you has been playing the game longer? Which one of you has knowledge of the game? Which one of you chose to complain about someone who obviously doesn't know much about the game instead of helping the other?

Must be so hard trying to help someone get better nowadays if this was THAT MUCH OF AN ISSUE. I feel sorry for the person that got stuck with you.

    3. Sorry I don't want to Tank or heal all the time.
    1) You get boosted EXP like crazy now, level 50 stuff is still newbie stuff now days.
    2) Still doesn't change the fact that you CAN offer to give tips, and if they're unresponsive, then be a bit cross with them. A lot of people are afraid to speak up and not go fast because of the force they get from higher level players on them.
    3) Stuff happens? Don't know why people are the most judgemental on the super easy stuff in game if someone doesn't know what they're doing.

Sadly this is true. My sister came to Siren when the Road to 60 was still active, and she hit level 34 so fast. She couldn't change to BRD yet as she wasn't there in the MSQ. I've had it happen on my character as well, duing stuff over level 30 where one "should" have their job class then.

Thats no issue, as you cant enter the higher dungeons then either, you dont go stone vigil before the jobquest, you might get some gear somewhere but thats about it.

The recommend function often gives bad recommendations for low-level tanks.
Reason for that is that it primarily looks at your mainstat when deciding which piece of gear to recommend, so for tanks it will always recommend the usable gear piece with the most VIT.
Pre-level 50 non-tank gear provides just as much VIT as the tank gear, and all of it can be used by tanks.

Wow, what a nice and helpful attitude. I bet you're just a hoot in the mentor roulette~

It doesn't take much effort at all to attempt to help a new person to the game and help them understand something, but I guess it takes less effort to throw things way out of proportion and ignore the fact that you're unwilling to help someone. Maybe you should find a game better suited to you.

What a great attitude! What I would expect from this 'community'.

I don't know why we talk about new players as if they were defenseless babies. When I started playing during 2.0, I picked the tank role up and I KNEW that I had to wear heavy armor because I have to eat damage and better armor gives better reduction, right? Like every RPG ever. You learn while doing dungeons that, as you progress, better gear will drop (Green big numbers with a plus sign indicating it's an upgrade) And that's a something you have to be aware of, specially when you know you will get paired up with other people. So I feel it's just laziness. It's an attitude that I've seen plenty of times in this game no matter what level.
Forget new players. Mentors are usually the ones I see not playing properly, or a lot of the time not even wearing the right gear.
