Which rule states that parses can't be posted in chat?

If someone chose to report you, both you and the person providing the data could suffer a ban. Parsers in FF XIV are explicitly not allowed.

The first part is false. Posting DPS #s itself is not proof of use of a tool.
You could technically just OPEN the log file the game itself saves, and add those #s manually as well to find your dps, WITHOUT any tools as well. Uploading a log proves nothing, the log is created BY the game itself, although yes parsers can make logs too, and most use network logs. Im saying uploading a log also does not prove anything since the game makes one itself.

You could also say someone in the party is streaming the fight on twitch, they have a parser showing on twitch, and you gave the dps #s that showed on the twitch stream. Just because someone gave the #s is not proof “that” person is who has a 3rd party tool running. Yes most likely they are the ones, but as far as proof goes no.

Its actually slander if the above was actually true and you report them, because youre saying theyre doing something they arent. And since slander is a form of harassment you could end up getting suspended yourself for reporting it without knowing 100% how they got it. Fact is you dont know unless they outright say it. Just giving dps #s isnt enough to report someone. For all you know all they did is open the “official” log made by the game itself, broke down every hit manually, and posted the result.


If were going to say any utility outside of the game is a violation then guess what twitch is a violation because its grabbing video data from it and uploading it. Not much different from a parser and well SE has a twitch stream so, there we go


The core issue with this entire topic is that dps can be found out without the use of ANY utility. This is why its dumb to report it. Nor is it verifiable. Its like using using a calculator in math class vs using your head and a piece of paper. Theres no way you can say person a b c used a calculator to solve the problem “if” the only thing they offer is the answer or in this case dps #. If you add them manually from the “game created” log and post everyones # without them even asking thats not a violation either, and if someone whines about it oh well, you added it manually, not much they can do about it.

In conclusion if someone you know got suspended for a parser, then they were dumb enough to at some point say theyre running one. If the only thing they posted is everyones dps #, even unsolicited and it makes you mad, there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it. You are wasting time reporting it unless you get them to say they used something external to get it. A log itself may not be external, it may be the “game made” log they used. Available to any pc player, and thus not a violation
