    MSQ Roulette Causes Tension

MSQ is causing some social tension in our FC. It's fairly good experience, although that is up for debate, but it means that some people feel forced into doing it, others try to attend but spend as little time as possible actually engaging with the content, and others just flat out refuse to do it.
Universally, we agree that they are not fun and feel like a necessary evil that we must do to progress our classes. I had a thought that maybe Trust would be a good system to implement into it for the sake of making it available for people who still need to do this content which is very, VERY old now.
I'm also reminded of Season 2 of the Living World from Guild Wars 2, that content is no longer playable at all, but instead has a series of videos depicting the event and what happened.
I dunno, I'm feeling a bit put out at the moment after having a bit of a grumble with some FC friends...apologies for the rant.

Say what? Why would anyone feel forced into doing the MSQ roulette, and what does any of that have to do with your FC? Are some members just butthurt that some people won't run certain content with them? Yikes.

I personally find the MSQ roulette to be repulsive, and I refuse to do it. I hate the cutscenes and I hate being synced to 50. It's not fun, and if I'm not having fun, then why am I playing? Despite that, I've got 4 jobs to 80 since ShB hit and I haven't touched the MSQ roulette once. Do it if you want. Don't if you don't.

"But it's great exp!" You know what else is great exp? Spam FATEs (bonus, you'll level up your Shared FATE system if you're in ShB areas). Do the most level-appropriate dungeon (either via DF or trusts if you're 71+). Go do your daily hunts. Go spam PotD/HoH. Low level? Do levequests. Sidequests. Beastmen quests. Other daily roulettes. PvP. Dungeons with your grand company adventurer squadron. There's always a variety of avenues you can take to get exp. Not everyone is going to like every option, and none should feel obligatory.

There's ZERO reason why the MSQ roulette should feel obligatory. If someone in your FC is giving someone else shit for not joining them on an MSQ roulette (or any other content) because they don't enjoy it, then that person needs to check themselves.

A lot of what Raldo said. People who run this roulette and then complain about it are annoying(seriously everyone, the roulette is optional - if you dont like it dont do it), but people trying to shame or pressure others who dont want to run it would clearly be worse. Run leveling and alliance - some of those instances are fun, and none of the bad ones are quite as bad as the MSQ runs. If you have enough FC members to make this an issue, do some full FC dungeon runs. Or any of the other methods Raldo mentions.

    They're really not.

I haven't done the MSQ Roulette a single time since they made it mandatory to sit through the cutscenes. The exp just isn't going to justify how much fun I won't be having, so I don't bother with it.

    It's that simple.

I do it while I'm making a pizza or something. Nobody really notices if I drop off for a few minutes to go take it out of the oven.

Hell, with Praetorium, I can put a pizza in the oven at the beginning, have it done by the fight with Nero, take it out and set it to cool while he's talking about his hateboner for Cid, go back to cut it up while Gaius is talking on the elevator, and eat most of it during Lahabrea's speeches. Even if I'm a little off on timing, the gear scaling is so out of hand that it doesn't really matter if one person is absent for a minute or two.

No one is forcing you to do MSQ roulette. The main point of it is to get an exp bomb while leveling. Not much use for it at max lvl unless you really need poetics, but while leveling it will give you at least half a level all the way until 80, and even more the closer you are to 50 - sometimes 2-3 levels depending on rested/exp buffs, etc. I would personally be mad if they removed the cutscene requirement because that would mean that the exp reward would get nerfed. As it is, I already leave if I queue in and don't get Praetorium. Massive exp and good time to watch TV, browse forums, do your taxes, etc.

I recommend that people who do not enjoy msq roulette do something else for XP, as there are many good options as noted above.

Hahaha you leave if you don’t get the Praetorium. I never imagined anyone saying that.

It's the most xp and there's no downside to doing it if I was already going to be watching TV or reading reddit or something anyways. I've done it as all three roles and none of them require any actual effort in there.
