I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to buy gil in a game where gil is nearly worthless.

I agree. The only thing I can think to justify such lazyness is when you need more money to buy a housing plot. Nothing more seems worth the risks and dumbness of the act.
But, since so many bots stills around annoying us so much I believe this obvious statement is far away for some minds... '-'
Maybe, we need to talk more about that inside the FC chats. It's a favor we do for the sake of us all.
Bots disrupting economics and making big queues on logins are a common problem in many MMO games but the need to "let's talk about bots" is as current as the need for chocobo ridings. So, let's do this more often![]()

I agree it's an absolutely stupid thing to do for various reasons already mentioned, but unfortunately it is what it is, and people are still going to keep doing it for whatever reason. In doing so, it's their responsibility to understand the risks involved, so they only have themselves to blame if they get their accounts shut down and/or their money and personal info stolen as a result. It's an unfortunate reality, particularly because such individuals only encourage bots and RMT to persist, and while this thread I'm sure is well-meaning I don't suspect it will change much.
You call lower prices making it worse? I only see upsides. Bots don't farm the stuff I do (EX and Raid drops) and I get to buy my raid consumables cheap. The only losers I see, are people trying to monopolise certain goods on the MB.It's not everyone that do this. And the negative effects of the bots are upon all of us. Even to the exorbitant price-guy (hehehe).
The point I'm stating here is: to buy gil is to provide reasons for bot keep annoying us all disrupting the economic system. I agree that is not a perfect economic system, but this not justify it to become worse...
"Cheating is fine if I can benefit from it"
But people who are not bots are farming the exact same thing as you and they are tanking prices of the stuff you are selling down, dropping prices because there is so big competition on the market.
You dont benefit from it unless you are omnicrafter yourself.
Last few months in stromblood was absolute trash for making gil for anyone who is not bot or crafter.
Gil buyers should be banned, bots should be banned, and people selling the new Hooded Fireglass Leather Vest for 20mil should be banned lol. You mentioned that bots would go away if the buyers would stop buying. The logic would work both ways: If prices weren't so rediculous the buyers wouldn't buy and the bots would go away. But hopefully, the world visit feature will straighten out the MB on all server soon enough.
You dont.
They are pushing people into your source of income, because they cannot compete with fully automated never-banned bots. This mass of people drops the price multiple times to the point where you are doing many times less gil than you would do if that never happened.
Not only droping the prices, but also RMT accounts accumulates incredible amount of gils and use the visiting system to flood your server market with stuff, dropping prices even more, because they could make money out of it by just buying cheap and selling for more. Not only that! But if your server is closed for new characters, these RMT have an open door to just rush into your server and and keep destroying its economy with bots thanks to the visiting feature.
There is less gil circulating between players, because a lot of it goes into the piggy bank of RMTs, and you are doing less gil as a final result.
This boggles my mind how people refuse to see the full picture.
These are no longer indivudals, but fully profesional companies with their own programming staff and workstations around the workplace to run multiple games at one time.

That's now how it works. I've been at this "game" for 20+ years now. RMT farm bots have pretty much always been a benefit of farming the items that nobody else wants to.You dont.
