    di case of "standing around for 3hours" could be solved by simply lowering the window to 15 minutes or anything like dat.

    fakt of the matter is hnms were good and cheap (easy to create by devlopers) content but it could hav been improved by lowering the window and perhaps changing spawning locations to combat botters.

    This is true for lvl's 50. What about those of us that started to play 15 days ago when 90% of server is populated whith lvl 40+? all i can do is 8 leves/day and lame grind... i cant even find players at my lvl to party with!

    I think 2 things coming will help: The injection of level 50 artifact gear (or whatever they are going to call the job specific gear you have to quest for in this) and an increase in level cap. As long as each piece of the gear quests take some thought and actually has a little well thought out story with each to them, that will help tremendously with both the lack of lore in the game and the lack of content.

    Increasing the level cap is obvious not only because of the time it takes to level up the higher it goes, but also because it typically brings with it new zones to go and do said leveling, and a few high level instances or raids. Part of the problem of comparing XI to XIV (and i am guilty of this sometimes too) is that in our minds we are comparing XI from the time several of the expansions had been added to it, to a game that hasn't seen an actual injection of content designed to move the game foward yet. We have seen them place content in the game to fill out what SHOULD have been there at launch, but not any REAL progress as far as game progression goes.

    Hoping that after the job system is finally redone, there will be more patches that contain content. 3 or 4 more that add as much as 1.18 did would be kick-ass.

    In my opinion a quick and easy way to add content is to add more world NM's have them have larger pop windows that 2-5 min. Make them drop gear that adds stats we cannot meld like Crit Chance, Or give stats that cannot be added to that item. Like a Bow that has a lot of Attack Power, Or a head armor with high Eva.

    I never got into the endgame that XI had, Mainly because I couldn't dedicate the time required. But I spent countless hours farming world NM's for different drops. I would pick a drop and make it my goal of the week to farm ithe NM until I got the drop.

    These NM's could be solo'd with really good gear and knowledge of how to play a job. Make some that require 2 and recommend 4. And a couple that require at least 6 but recommend 8 to kill.

    Sky was my favorite endgame in ffxi, I had a blast playing it, i'd love to see something along the lines of sky. Such as killing aa NM to get an item, which spawns another NM etc.

    Assuming the final NM in the NM tree has a somewhat decent drop rate on the main items, or a system where a rare item always drops, but then a chance for maybe 2 different items. I hate to see large linkshells have to fight there way through 6 NMs only to kill the final boss and have nothing drop. Thats not replay value, thats just annoying.

    On track to the OP. I agree with everything said. u/u Gear really needs more value, and value that will last many months to years.

    I do understand why people are against gear-swaps (elitist thing etc) but I also believe it's a very good way to make much more items useful. I think what is really important is how they would implement such a thing. It could be good if it was a nice little addition to the game while not being a must have in order to do your job properly and enjoy the content the game offers.
    Sadly, I think that what happened in XI with gear swap and elitism could also happen in XIV with materias. Not right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if in ~2 years people would not want you in their raid group because you don't have your triple materia set ready. Again, it's all about balancing things and not making something too powerful or something else not powerful enough. The community is also important of course. For instance, I spent my first years in XI without swapping gears and everything was fine as long as I did my job. Didn't got much complain. Then I started working on various sets and it added a whole new dimension into the game and kept things fresh. I enjoyed both.

    I'm not saying gear swap like it was in XI is the way to go, but maybe SE could look at it, take the good parts of it, and think about a system that would make both sides happy. Or they could do something entirely new, which I wouldn't mind at all, as long as they give purpose to both crafted and u/u gears.

    I think that's where SE is doing a mistake. They want to add many different things everytime an update comes in while they don't have the time to properly test every idea they got. The basics are very fragile. That's not a good thing for the players, but it's not much better for the devs themselves. An example i got in mind is the dye system which had to be totally reworked in 1.20. I guess the devs lost quite some time working on this. The same thing can apply to some spells they added. Resurrect and such disappeared only a few months after they came into the game.
    I think this might be one of the reason why when an update comes i got the feeling that for almost each good thing they add there is something else coming as a downside.

    I'm really not sure this is the best and most efficient way to be ready in time for 2.0

    All I'm really asking for is for maybe a few quests with maybe a little story arc and enough journey and strife to last me long enough to make an impact.

    Hmmm... i dont really consider NMs or any type of leve to be any real type of content, so that would leave me 3 days of free time especially since leves and NMs can both be done in a few hours with your LS in one day and still leave you with free time that day. Not really familiar with strongholds but the youtube videos make them look like FFXI campaign type battles, which isnt terrible.
    And on top of that, im pretty sure most requests for actual content include story line missions and a variety of dungeon crawls.
    On top of that, but who wants to do the exact same battles over and over week in and week out?
    only having 2 summon battles to choose from since release isnt much content, on top of that, these summons arent part of any story line quest chains or Bosses to some amazing looking dungeon. Theyre essentially BCNMs with bad old fashioned time sink fetch quests. again, not much for content.
    Also note that most MMO players like a little PVP on the side to break things up as well as a vast slew of gear to persue and many options for Endgame, which this game doesnt really have an endgame yet.

    I commend you for trying to stay positive though.
