Those throwaways are just using regular gunsI mean, those are also the special fights. I'm talking about the garlean throwaways who carry the regular gunblade like in the stormblood CGI trailer. Fighting styles aside, I'm pretty sure they made it clear that guy is using something of garlean design but not common within ranks.![]()
There actually is an example in the original ARR intro, but even so we're talking one guy vs. the example of pretty much every other gunblade user we've ever seen or fought.

I think that's mainly from ceruleum equipment in their armor, like the arm cannon Gaius used in 1.X. Regula's The Bastard is the only exception I can think of, but there's nothing to suggest that the standard issue Garlean gunblades actually have anything special about them.To be fair, the majority of gunblades we've seen are special, the Empire doesn't equip the rank and file with them.
I mean, if 'gun with sword attached' is the canon then that's that, just bugs me because that isn't our experience in game at all.
The people equipped with that we actually fight have unique combat styles, but with recurring themes across users. Lot of dashing in and out of melee, lot of dropping fire on the floor, lot of creating those magitek X projectiles.
Well the most common Garlean Gunblade is Gaius designed one which only is seen to be used by High ranking officers of the Garlean Army. We see a shorter blade version of this design in Stormblood as well. (though a certain fish merchant did sell a entire village these things in a side quest)Thinking back on that line makes me laugh, you literally fight a garlean gunblade user that the job NPC is already familiar with in the 70 quest, describing his weapon as just a gun with a sword attached seems to be doing it a massive disservice.
Think maybe our job trainer was a little bitter about being a prisoner all that time (which would be more than fair tbh.)
Regual and Vitus's Gunblade is said to be the more latest designed Garlean Gunblade but it is still only exclusive to a few users of highest rank due to how recently it is made.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to post all my opnions on this topic but for short I do believe that the job has a nice balance between Squall and Seifer.
At first I was also a bit bummed for the fighting stance. I would have liked a 2-hand stance a bit more just because is my preference but at the same time I understand why the GNBs don't hold their weapons like Squall does. If they did it would look exactly the same as Samurais and this wouldn't be a good design since all the jobs needs to be easily recognized when you look at them.
So yeah, just my 2 cents.
Seifer was the more popular of the two characters. It only makes sense that more of him would be in the class. This being said, I do wish we could utilize Seifer's combat stance instead of that silly crap where Squall holds his gunblade behind his head. Squall's default stance would like as not get someone killed if they attempted to use it.
I still contest that comparing that guy we fought at level 70 as GNB to Gaius was a joke Gaius Van Baelsar would have cold smoked him and Regulus Van Hydrus would have taught them both a thing or two(Gaius would have won but it would have been one hell of a fight). I mean Vitus was probably the easiest fight I had since the level 30 dragoon quest but thats all by the by.
Are you serious with this tread? Who did ever told you it will be Squal-like-style job? All that was said is that "this gunblades will resemble more like FF8 gunblade and not the Garlean one". That's it. No one EVER told you we will receive the same fight style as Squal! Believe me, I would LOVE to have a separate skill to push in time in order to increase potency of my attacks, but SE just made the explosion effect on hit. Period. So, PLEASE, stop with such small complaints! There is far bigger problems and demands of player base than your "disapointment". Geez...

And tbh, we already have Reznokuken hitting the continuation skill after one of our skills so... I feel like that is just as good.
Seems fine to me. There's plenty of Squall in the job IMO. The idea of choosing between two different sets of animations to favor Squall or Seifer feels a bit arbitrary and greedy to me when that got brought up earlier.
I would ask for more uniqueness for this job. Its whole thing is just a 1,2,3 -1,2,3 combo with a OGCD button pressed a few times. The job has no personality. Stance is fine.
