The thing about trolls is they won't stop unless you stop feeding them. So either you counter troll or you ignore them and they get bored really fast. Taking it to the forums crying for GM help is exactly the reaction they want bc now they know they're getting to you.Ofc they won't stop if you give them what they want.

It is true harassment. It has continued. This isn't the first time. I've been followed by literally eight players who plan this stuff when I'm trying to write with someone else. There is no band, they're doing it on purpose. The GMs can't take action because it's a form of harassment that can't be reported. That's the issue. It's a loophole. A work-around to bother other players while going unpunished. That's why I made the thread. This is a new form of harassment I've seen start to occur since trolls realize they can get away with it, mind you I haven't been the only one who has had to deal with this one bit.

If those people in question follow you - you can report harassment as far as stalking. I used to have a player follow me and spam emotes, even after I blacklisted. I would teleport zones and they would actually search me and follow me to said location. So I reported that person and they just disappeared I assume jailed. /shrug

I hope so. Sorry you had to go through that by the way! I mean, I reported as many of them as possible--but there are times where groups like this are smart enough to not say a single word or even emote. I'm not even sure if this recent occurrence yielded enough proof of abuse.

The trolls are fully aware that following roleplayers wherever they go and /crouching with their face up against their crotch--while folks are trying to stay in character is more than enough. No words or emotes needed. It doesn't help that a lot of people don't like roleplayers to begin with, so a lot of the time when we're "picked on" we're being "dramatic". It's a shame but I'm just glad there are many folks here who understand where I am coming from.

I am actually SUPER annoyed when 2 people stand next to each other spaming "cuddle" emotes. Like yeah, we get it, you looooveee each other, now stop spaming my chat with BS.

I am one of those people who really dislike Role Playing and think it should be limited to /tell so that I don't have to be bothered.

whatever it is, as soon as you use your cartoon figure in a video game to represent yourself I consider it role playing. Like a 3D Chatroom.

Most roleplayers don't self insert though? It's primarily a cooperative writing exercise for most people. And those that do self insert are generally blacklisted because of all the potential messes that come with that kind of territory.

Regardless I'm sorry you had to deal with that Dolly. I had a similar experience with the 'crouching' emote trolling when I first started playing the game and had attended my first roleplaying event here on Balmung. Back then it was easy to ignore because it was just two idiots trying to get a rise out of a group of thirty or more people who eventually left when they didn't get their way. I can't imagine having people actively follow me around like that and doing it more than once at that.

Thank you. Ultimately, it's not like I don't know how to adapt to make sure these situations don't happen to me anymore. The thing is, that involves being ran out of public areas just to write in peace. And that is just so darn wrong and unfair to me. While it's true the best option when dealing with a troll is to walk away, leaving public areas is exactly what they want. So in a way? Moving else where to RP means they "won" in my eyes. But it's like, eh, what can you do? They're on the verge of being untouchable in such cases if they're smart enough. It's a messy situation with a niche amount of people who have to deal with it. But I'll try to figure out something. Because one person can't get Enix to change their TOS, or implement a feature. It's not realistic and I understand.

If you're at public places there will always be players interrupting you, intentionally or unintentionally. Where do we draw the line. Sorry that it sucks for you, but I'll never advocate for the ability of people to report others for basicaly just being there, who tells me I wont end up being reported for sitting on that bench that RPers "claimed" for their RP? If you port in where I sit and my head ends up in your crotch, is it reportable? How can I prove it wasn't my fault?

When have people unlearned to cope with minor inconveniencies, and instead started calling for some authority to ban everything that incoveniences them? Now it's infesting gaming as well.

Come on, you're an adult , and a group of random players just following you around in an online game without even doing anything throws you off? Really?
