About the final boss of the 5.0 MSQ

I definitely had the same thought... Why didn't the other Ascians we fight have final forms the way Emet Selch did? Also, we ran into 5 Ascians. Where are the other 9 Ascians of the Convocation? Did I miss something?

Oh dont worry they will find a NPC that nobody knows that somehow is stronger than us and defeats us in a fight but then later will be defeated too because ingame levels somehow mean anything.

Well there are only three Ascians that have their complete souls, so the other ones are just fragments. That could be the reasion on why we only got that form on Emet Selch. Lahabrea seems to like to use countless bodies that make him weaker but at the same time it could just be that he underestimated us thus never thougth that he needs to fight at full strengh. Later he was absorbed suddenly by Thordan so could also not show his potential. Elidibus and his powers are unknown. The rest of the Ascians are probably doing their thing in the shards or maybe Elidibus needs to find another shard of their soul first.

Also given Emet-Selch being the theatre lover that he was (as Solus zos Galvus and his own general habits), it would not surprise me if he chose that particular stage and Final Form just because it was especially dramatic.

I took by all the masks that Emet-Selch had also been merged with multiple passed souls (befitting his whole Hades motif and turning into Gygas-Zamasu at the end), which could also explain any power discrepancies later.

I have always wondered if Lahabrea was really dead, as getting absorbed into Nidhogg's eye was always peculiar to me, and didn't really lead to anything. Unless I missed something - was there ever any line about Lahabrea's aether being necessary to summon Shinryu or anything? Of course, now that the eyes are destroyed, I am not sure where that leaves this.

To be completely accurate, ALL souls are made of aether, and Ascians are just souls (even if they are strong ones) that can persist w/o bodies thanks to the Echo. We had proof that primals could eat 'Echo-endowed' souls from patch 2.2 when Leviathan consumed the soul of the Sahagin Priest... so looking back, death by Primal for an Ascian shouldn't have been much of a surprise.

It's logical that Lahabrea was simply 'eaten' by Thordan... but narratively it was so disappointingly abrupt. If nothing else, we should have targeted Lahabrea with the auracite and personally destroyed him, while Thordan consumed Igeyorhm (who we had very little to do with).

That does make me suspect there's a chance it's "not really over" for Lahabrea, though it's doubly implausible after Estinien destroyed the Eyes at the end of Stormblood.

Snagging Igeyorhm was actually the wiser choice, as we'd chumped Lahabrea twice. We had his measure, while Igeyorhm remained a relative unknown.

Also Igeyorhm was the one that stunned you at Bismark that allowed Thordan to get away with the key. And that last part of HW was pretty much our character going on a revenge trip.

Pashtarot, Emmorololth, and Altima were seen with other Ascians in some of the 2.x scenes, while Mitron and Loghrif were destroyed by Ardbert's party.
