I'd take it as they aren't actually working on it or planning to in the near future, but it's not a 'no' right now. Maybe one day is still what I got from it. Circumstances do change over time.

I just think it's funny that people are thinking so critically over that comment made by Zeylos.

I think people are mostly holding out hope that, while it is indeed likely that there will be no more new races and such, there was never a flat out no because Yoshi P can't exactly rule it out entirely. While it might be difficult at this point in time, that may change later. And he never said "nope, not gonna happen!" I think it was smart of him to leave it up in the air. Still though I don't think there's much to discuss as far as this topic goes. What's done is done. The future may hold some surprises, but until something is said or shown this thread has all but served its purpose in the here and now.

Indeed, I edited in more from the Letter where they mentioned just that.

But, if I remember correctly. Isn't it part of Japanese culture that they don't really do give a staight out "no" as a respons alot of times due to trying to be polite?
A "maybe" is often a "no" as I've understood it.

I could be wrong. I just have a faint memory of hearing something this.

So I still think it's not going to happen. Atleast for a long time.
But I could be wrong. But why hold ones breath when they already have given an answer about it not happening and there will be no promises.
Enjoy what one got right now and be happily surprised if/when it happens.
