Adding in, I resonate with every DECENT, perfectly good healer being yelled at. I would give you all tea and encouragement and commendations if I could. Sometimes, the rest of the party is full of big meanie heads who weren't hugged enough as children, or they still are said children.

    My own mini story:
I was once vote-kicked from The Vault for reasons unknown. Seriously, to this day, I am still clueless as to why and how I was kicked. It happened very fast. Tank wasn't doing his job right on a boss, was standing in AoEs, not using cooldowns, aggro was flying on everyone, he was being weird and a pain to heal, but I did my best. We end up wiping. A DPS types something like "It's not a hard fight" and I say, "I agree." I've done this dozens of times. Tank types in: "Then step up your game, healer. Come on." I reply with "What?" in honest confusion. Not a moment later, I am given the boot from the dungeon. Ah well, didn't like em anyway.

my fav story happen'd recently, i was leveling my WHM via stormblood dungeons, and got told off by a dps in my group for not doing dps and actually, you know, doing my job and healing, it was done using the translate function, so it sound like this person was talking to a dog, so i just threw it back at them, even saying "<DPS> <HEAL!>" just for giggles... i mean if you have to ask the healer to do dps, then something is very wrong, in my eyes that means the dps are not doing the job they are there to do...

Mine has always been the Tanks that insisted on puling multiple packs but refused to cycle their defensive CD in dungeons. These have been increasingly common in DF lately.

Solo healing Ridorana Lighthouse after my co-healer bailed on me. We didn't get another one the entire run. On top of that, the group had like 5 new people. Imagine how all that went. I was so mentally tired after that. Had some generous help from the other alliance healers though, so I appreciated that.

This has a bit to do with MMORPG culture in general; it's something that facinates me, so I've spent some time thinking about it.

As far as FFXIV goes, the Roles can easily be shown to fail visably: if the mobs are running from player to player, the Tank is failing; if fights take far too long, the Damage dealers are failing; and if everyone keeps dying, then the Healer is failing.

That's the theory anyway, in practice, if something else goes wrong, or folks aren't working as a team, then deaths can happen anyway, which makes it look like the Healer is failing to do what they should be doing. But since clearing a dungeon as fast a possible is status quo and expected, when a Healer is doing their job well, commendations may mindlessly be given, but there's not much thought given to the skill of the Healer. We'll always get the short end of the stick, despite how much I love being a Healer.

My healing horror stories have been told time and again, but I have one when I started Tanking.

I was tanking the Dzemael Darkhold, and forgot the early mechanics of standing in crystal light with pulls (while I knew the mechanics for the first boss, it had been forever since I had been to the dungeon, and forgot about the general buff).

We wiped once, I knew it was my mistake, and apologized for it. Our Healer, on the other hand, promptly lost it. From begging to be kicked, to slander, to postulating all of the other queues he could be in at the moment: he was a twobled wittle boy. I simply stated that I would pull a bit smaller, mind where I stood, and strive to do better.

That shut him up, but didn't stop him from pulling extra mobs onto himself that I had to pick up when he got bored.

Nary a wipe after the first, everything went pretty smoothly. I figured that I still had lots to learn, and still apologized for my poor performance as a Tank. I left with 2 commendations (from the other DD's), and a whisper from one of them saying, "That healer was an ass."

When I play a Tank, most of my healers are fantastic. Possibly because I don't buy into the pull-the-whole-dungeon mentality?

There's many stories to be told, some stories like when Tank does Big Pulls and you cast Asylum/Sacred Soil/Earthly Star and they move out the bubble and stand right on it's side without going in, you want to scream in madness but you can't because if you stop healing for a second the Tank also dies, because usually those Tank do not use Defensive CDs as well, so you must burn your MPs and Resouces just trying to keep them alive. So when the fight is over you can feel tears on your face and your hands shaking. Well, that's my favorite horror story from Healers.

A few hours ago I was with my AST alt and got into a Bardam's Mettle - the first pulls there are normally heavy, but this DRK proceeded to pull and sprint all the way till the first wall, died, we wiped, and he left....que? I'm still questioning whether that was a troll or one of those tanks who takes healers for granted.

Dear tanks, most of us don't mind big pulls, but you better only pull what you can handle. If your HP goes from 100% to 10% within a second...that's not the healer's fault.
