I'd like something similar to the Wardrobe system from GW2 personally...

Spaghetti code infestation. The Ebony Engine which is what ARR uses is a combination of both Crystal and Luminous, iirc. The only pure Luminous engine wa FFXV, iirc.1.0 used the Crystal Tools engine, ARR uses an engine derived from the Luminous engine.
They are different games and the idea that there's still leftover 1.0 code lurking inside and causing mischief is simply not true.
At Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012, Square Enix debuted "Agni's Philosophy", a tech demo for their new Luminous Studio game engine. Though members of the Final Fantasy XIV development team worked on Luminous, Yoshida admitted that both Luminous and Crystal Tools were optimized for offline games and could not handle an online environment with hundreds of on-screen character models.[39] Though Version 2.0 uses a "completely different engine", he called the Luminous engine and the 2.0 engine "siblings" due to similarities in their structure.[55] In July 2012, Square Enix revealed that Version 2.0's official title would be Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.[56] As development for A Realm Reborn ramped up, Yoshida made the decision to shut down the servers for the original release on November 11, 2012.[57] This date served as the "grand finale" for the old game, culminating in a cinematic trailer for A Realm Reborn called "End of an Era"
edit: Which to add doesn't take away or add to the discussion. At the end of the day FFXIV would need a newer engine in order to do the more modern things. IMO, I think Yoshida is secretly creating a newer engine that the game will shift over to, which is why the future of FFXIV seem ominous with what may or may not be added in the future.

Well compare 10 000 people paying for the app, so 10 000 extra bags to keep track of to giving like 100 000 people extra bags. While the first may not bring the server down the load of the second may very well crash the servers. Its not necesarily greed that drives this.

Ok I'm going to dispel the myth right now.
1.0 code has no bearing. I don't care what any dev, producer, or whatever said, didn't say, or whatever. Even if this game was on 0.1 Alpha it would have NO bearing.
All an improved Glamour system requires is a database entry on our character referencing the slot, and the itemID. That's it. It saves the ItemID meant for the display and when you load into an area it tells the server to reference that itemID and everyone's client will pull the image/graphic from their harddrive (much like it already does). Think of the glamour slot acting like an armor slot without giving stats and overrides the armor underneath.
It won't hinder the server. It won't add much to the character save table in the database (might even be less since we're just using binary flags to say whether we got the item or not).
So lets get this out of your heads about coders can't do this, server can't handle that, or that whatever version of the game is holding back. In fact the hardest part is getting the UI artist to spend about 20 minutes drawing up the UI for it. Which most of that work has already been done. The other hard part is getting the dev team to actually do it, and stop blowing smoke up the producer's rear with excuses.
If that would be the case, just being a 20 minute job, they would've had no problems implementing this already instead of relying on a glamour dresser, don't you think?
Grade-A Armchair Developer comment.
hey guys i want to give an answer to your question so I will defend it with lets see ps3 limitations...can't do that anymore...32 bit operating system mmm can't do that anymore...awe yes direct x 9 wait nope... okay 1.0 limitations..I'm not a dev or anything.. I just like to see my post count rise so I feel like I help people with things I know nothing about.

It would also be lovely if they removed the soulbound restriction on the armorie, I literally never use it for this reason, all i have on it is my mogstation items and my class items, all that space could be put to good use.Have you equipped the item at least once before? If yes, then great! Glam unlocked! Go to your wardrobe to see skins you have unlocked and to use them! Wow! Seriously, what is the hold up here? And don't say server limits, etc. That's hogwash. SE is a AAA video game company, and B-level MMOs have glam systems like this. There is no reason for us not to have a simple and intuitive glam system.
I really hope that we someday will get that system. I only played rift for a bit of a time but I found housing and glamour to be way superior in that game. It was nice to simply have the option to glamour anything you had collected once to your character without the need for prism, the need to hold onto it on your retainers or the need to go to an inn to use the wardrobe. Just open the window and click on the glamour you wanted.Have you equipped the item at least once before? If yes, then great! Glam unlocked! This change would also be a great way to give "content" without doing much. Just have the whole catalogue of glamour options and I at least would start to complete it which means running lots of older content. Right now I simply dont do that because inventory and the glamour wardrobe are restricted.

Please explain your insight into the challenges that the FFXIV team faces that have cause them to ignore a 20 minute fix that would not only alleviate one of the biggest problems that the glamouring userbase faces but allow them more profits in the way of purchased glamours (many avoid purchased items because of limited space) .
If you, random, likely coding and database experienced, person can figure this out from the outside, why would nobody in this multi-million dollar company have pointed this out?
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
