After running the dungeon first using the lovely trust system where I am guaranteed a reliable tank, I decided I wanted a full set of healing gear from this dungeon and that it might be faster with a regular party. I've seen the mechanics at this point and am comfortable with them. I get put into what appears to be a normal party, and we begin immediately, so no gear peeking from me. Tank rushes into the first mob, then pulls to the next, and the next. I am thinking "Wow, he must be confident. Okay." I am also hoping the DPS are good because my DPS as a WHM has been cut to basically useless. After only a few seconds, his HP is jumping down way more than it should. I am spamming every heal I got on him and he is barely clinging onto life with like 10% HP. Damage and aggro is flying off him to everyone else in the party until we finally all die. I realize this guy really shouldn't have pulled as much as he did. Oh well. Try again with a smaller pull, right?

Nah. Mr. Tank didn't wanna do that. Second time, he pulls EVEN MORE, and I am seething in my chair, panicking, spamming heals like pure madness. My MP is at the mercy of the gods. I use everything I can to maintain this pure chaos as not only can the tank not withstand damage, he can't hold aggro, so it's bouncing around all over the party. I put up Asylum fast, cause hells know we need it.

However, Mr. Tank has decided he is too good for Asylum, and therefore so is the rest of the party. He immediately gets OUT of the asylum bubble, thus dragging the giant mob and DPS with him. This entire time, he also appears to be playing some game of hopscotch around the area that only he can see. By some miracle of the divines, we make it out of this pull alive, with my MP completely drained and the tank at like 3% HP. So, one might think "Oh, that was very perilous, let's not do it again," right? Nope! Mr. Hopscotch Tank does this for the rest of the dungeon: pulling as much as the map will allow him, jumping around like a hot potato, stepping OUT of my attempts at AoE heals, never letting my MP regain. Aggro is bouncing all over to every party member, so we all get a fun chance to practice tanking! Did the entire thing with consistent low if not barely there MP. This was by far my WORST experience ever, but somehow, we managed to complete the dungeon.

Those are my two best. I hope I do not, or will not, have more to share in the future.

I have enough horror stories for at least 10 pages.
Duty and Party Finder just hate me and always give me the worst and/or rudest truckers imaginable.

Then again, for some of those stories, the forums would rip me apart because how DARE I dislike big pulls in ShB.

Anyway, this one just happened a few hours ago and tbf it's people like that that make me want to just jump out a window.

Level 80 Crystal Tower dungeon. EX roulette. Me on SCH. A WAR, a RDM and a BLM.
First pull goes fine, even if it lives surprisingly long. And I don't mean "well not everyone is in complete tome gear yet" long, but like. EXTREMELY long. As if someone wasn't even in full ARF with 75~79 accs of smth.

And mind you, I DID help with DPS as good as I could.

Well, I think, I have time. I have nowhere to be at 10 at night. I don't mind this being a long run, although I am fearing for what will happen if the tank decides to pull big.
He does once the dungeon lets him, and again, it goes so. Slow. Way too slow, seeing as we have a RDM and a BLM, and while I have no idea how RDM is spell/damage wise (haven't tried it out yet), I know from experience that a well played BLM can melt even big pulls.

So I think, let's keep an eye on those cast bars.
Then I see it.

BLM single target. And not with things that make sense, like switching from fire to ice, oh no. I mean almost exclusively ST. The only AoE is Thunder 4 and SOMETIMES Foul.

But wait, there's more!

So we reach the first boss. BLM doesn't watch where he goes with AoEs. Frees a mob. I heal him, get the aggro, bring the mob to the tank who takes the aggro. We kill the add, all is well.

Same thing happens again, except this time, the mob kills me as I was trying to not only heal me but also the whole party, AND bring this bugger to the tank. So I'm dead, the BLM dies. RDM rezzes me, bless them.

I wasn't even fully rezzed yet when BLM decides it's time to blame me. I tell him that I wasn't the one who fred the mob, so he shouldn't blame me for his mistake.
And I was ready to leave it at that bc hey, we all mess up sometimes, we're not perfect. Stuff happens y'know, I wasn't mad, just a bit iffy that he decided to play the "Always blame the healer first" card.

He, however, seemed to somehow be personally offended by that.
He tells me I'm bad, that the RDM is a better heal than I am. So I decide, hey, if I'm sooo horrible, why don't I just leave him dead? He clearly didn't want anything to do with me, so I'd rather not throw my icky magic on him, to not give him bad player cooties you know? We wouldn't want HIM to catch that!

RDM sadly rezzes him. I don't heal him when he rezzes INTO AN AOE AND IMMEDIATELY CASTS, so he dies. Same thing happens like 2 times before I say I'll leave him dead no matter what, bc I am not wasting my MP on a person like him.

He replies with, and I quote: "just how your father wasted spunk on you"

I think wow okay dude, you need an anger management class, and probably a new diaper. I hope his kindergarten teacher had one left for him.

I told him he'll get a report for that, and explained that all I wanted to do was get the add to the tank (since Mr. BLM wasn't moving when it was eating him), and things simply went bad. I also told him that HE freed the add (again), but yeah I AM the bad one lmao

He told me, and I quote again: "your shit is what you are"

I said he's a child and that this conversation was over. After the boss we kicked him, and I hope he took those 30 Minutes to cool down, or at least cry out his horrible temper in a secluded room where no one had to deal with him.

Sadly we had to abandon the dungeon bc RDM couldn't figure out how to look for a replacement.
Oof.

Fun fact: We managed the boss without a problem after BLM was smooching the floor like it was his long lost wife, and no one ever even came close to death. But yeah, I'm a shit healer, a waste of spunk, I shouldn't exist LMAO

Being new in a dungeon (and he was new) and making mistakes is one thing, but immediately blaming everyone else and getting insulting and rude?
Nah man, you can go eff off. I have healed in this game for years, I have enough BS going on in RL, I have literally zero time for your stuff OR any ducks to give. Go get your anger issues looked at, for the sake of everyone who has to deal with you yes.

Isn't WHM capable of pushing more DPS than all the tanks now? From my experiences and other posts on these forums it seems to be a complete Holy monster now (and it gets even better with Misery).


That said, that first pull can be awful and I too failed it as WHM the first time I ran the dungeon on it (it was also the first time for me as a WHM in any ShB dungeon). After the initial Holy stuns, the tank should have used their invulnerability skill on it, followed by your Benediction, and after that things should have already been easier to handle. I think that pull also includes the monster which has to be silenced to prevent it from buffing the big hitters, so the tank and DDs have some additional responsibility there to make your job easier.

I think I have an unpopular opinion here, but I personally don't really like Holy. It hurts my eyeballs and offends my ears, and it does the tiniest little sliver of damage. IMO, the best part about it is the stun; that's actually really useful. I wish I had Aero III back, and Holy was changed to just a stun. Because the thing is, we gotta spend like 2.5 seconds casting Holy, and while casting, we can't do anything else. So I gotta stop what I'm doing just to spam it. With Aero III, I had 1 cast, and then I could heal and/or DPS as needed WHILE enemies continued to take damage. Maybe I'm just bitter they took Aero III from me, ahaha.

Also, I agreed. Ideally, that big pull would've gone like that. The issue is the tank was running around like he had ants down his pants the entire time, dragging the mob all over the place, so even if I had time to cast Holy during my frantic effort to keep his papery butt alive, it probably wouldn't have even hit most of the mob by the time he dragged em off somewhere else. It was super weird and annoying. He was also unaware of having cooldowns and tank skills. He sorta just ran around in a frenzy auto-attacking. I did that pull several other times with success, when my tanks/dps used their heads a little.

Did Eden 2 earlier this afternoon to hopefully loot a chest token (I did).

There was a BLM that insisted on standing in his leylines, even when the Nyx were coming right at him, and when the beam was being fired down the middle of the arena. Finally started using Rescue to pull him, but he popped back over to the leylines anyways. I'm glad we still managed lol.

This literally just happened. Dohn Mheg (or however you write it, I forgot)
I was doing lvl roulette on AST. AST is 73 in almost complete iLvl 400 gear, so just enough to get into this dungeon. I was HOPING for a non-ShB dungeon do to experiences like these, but oh well, we were all 73, so I was hoping the Tank would know to not expect the highest Damage and Heals.

DNC IMMEDIATELY tells tank to pull huge. I want to say please no, it's my first time doing this on AST, we're all in lvl gear, big pulls in ShB can lead to big problems if not done correctly but the tank is already at it, and I can't type without wiping us.

Tank forgot Tank stance. DNC gets poisoned, but the tank is almost dying despite me pulling everything I have, so I can't Esuna him and he dies.

I left. I hate this. So I know this makes me sound really dumb, but it legit made me cry? I don't even know why. I don't know why this got to me so much. Why do DDs think they control the pace? WHY do we need HUGE PULLS in level dungeons. Bigger is not always better! Pull SMARTER PLEASE.

Yes big pulls can work. But not like this. Consider your god damn healer. Your gear. Their gear. CDs. How hard mobs hit. How many mobs there are. How many AoEs, how many HARD HITTING MOBS. Square is fighting big pulls for a reason.

The buffing mobs weren't stunned either! Which makes it WORSE!

I want a barrier after every trashpack. I don't care anymore. Big pulls can work but with the lack of brain usage I see on a daily basis I'm just so so so so tired.

I'm tired of having an emotional breakdown everytime I heal, because people instantly blame me, insult me, bitch at me, and don't even ASK me if I am okay with a certain pull. Then call ME the problem when I can't handle something. Because I'm bad and I suck and should die, apperently. All things I've been told from huge pull enthusiasts. Call me a bad healer, idgaf. Call me an asshole for wanting this I don't. Care anymore.

I understand completely. I hate healing right now because of this sort of thing. People are being dumb. Like, really, really dumb. It's not just you. We're all dealing with this.

Healing is extremely stressful thanks to some of the most incompetent balancing I've ever seen. (I say this as a SCH. WHM is WHM.)

None of it fixed the game. There's more spike damage, tanks have fewer ways of mitigating it, and more responsibility falls on the healer now.

We end up jumping through hoops to cover tanks for every error they make. And heaven forbid we make an error.

If you're playing SCH in a pug, then keep in mind that Recitation + Emergency Tactics + Adlo is a huge heal and can prevent a wipe. It's not always wise to blow Recitation on a free Excog.

I leveled up a DRK to lvl57 or something, because I'm edgy AND because I'm tanking since TBC on WoW. But because I found tanking pretty mindless this days, I wanted to make some healers for a change, my first job when I started FF14 being WHM, and now AST.

First story : The Clueless tank, in Brayflox's Longstop.

It was your typical "I don't know what the hell I'm doing" tank. I thought it was a first timer, so I asked "are you new at tanking by any chance ?"... and it began. 1min, 2min, 3min. I thought I broke him... but he finally said "No". He ran into the first pack of mob but without his enmity spell on. I told him "hey buddy, can you activate your enmity spell ? It's the pink/red/green one" (he was a WAR). Again, 1min, 2min, 3min... he ran to an other pack, still without his spell on... this time we wiped because of the huge "pull" (into my face).

First boss, he didn't make him face the other direction, away from the group. I told him "hey man, don't make the boss face the group, we will get AoE'd". He didn't do a thing. So the group moved behind the boss... BUT SURPRISE --> the tank went with us ! Again, we move behind it... THE TANK FOLLOWS.

Then, for the rest of the dungeon, he went alone "to clean every mob". He died many time. But he really wanted to make us clean every mob. I told him why, he said "more experience lol".

As for the last boss... oh boy : for some reason, he ran in circles around the dragon. Our dps were a MNK and a NIN btw.

Second story : The "I cannot do this, kick me out of the group" tank, Aurum Vale.

This one is simple. Our tank aggroed every fucking mob until the boss room. We wiped. I told him to maybe pull a bit less, and... well... activate his enmity spell . He did activate it, and he pulled them slowly... BUT... he stood in the yellow pools. He died. He said "wtf healer ?". I told him about the huge damages from the yellow pools. HE DID THE SAME. He died. In front of the first boss, he said "I don't want to tank it, this dungeon is too much lol ^^". I told him to just... stay out of the goddamn pools. He said "kick me, I don't want to do this". We did.
