Are you sure? There’s a lot of times I’ve hung out in my FC house for a few hours and I don’t notice the bar moving at all but if I logout for 30 minutes and log back in I notice a small amount of increase.
I like to do a bit of chores with the game sound on. Loggin queue time aren't bothering me as much as entering the one-time use password . And a 30 min break goes FAST.You could always... I dunno... log off and shut down the game if you anticipate being away long enough to get afk booted. I mean I am pretty sure the timer is 30 minutes of inactivity. If you're going to be gone long enough for it kick you why not just preemptively log off and eliminate the inevitable blare of music?
If you're going to take a "small break" then just log off. I get that you want to avoid a queue when you come back, but if you're getting afk kicked frequently enough for the login music to be an issue, maybe you really should just log off for those breaks because either way you're ending up back in a queue.
Cinematic intro ignore all muting options. I only have the system sound on while client out so I can hear queue pop or FC chat.
The difference in audio volume is the real issue. You go from in game sweet piano music to loud Hard metal and drum.
What's wrong with muting your speakers then before you go afk? That's what I do if I'm not browsing the internet whilst afk.
EDIT: you don't need to even turn off your speakers, just go to your audio options and select open volume mixer and mute ffxiv sounds, just remember to unmute them when you're back online!

SE know's people will do this and if too many people do, they will log out the whole data center. So good job if you(Not "you", in general) do this, you just F**ked over everybody.

SE basically gave their response to this in the patch notes
“The volume of the title screen music has been increased.”
