The one part I do agree on is that it is VERY terrible that you have to sign up to their website to opt out of it. I would be 100% fine with the site if it was opt in. I am very very concerned of the reason why they chose to do it like that, which is why I really dislike it as that just makes it obvious what the true reason for its existence is, which isn't a positive one.

No need to subscribe. Just update the description of your character profile on the Lodestone and put "fflogs-hidden" then no one will be able to check on FF Logs your logs, since I did that, I can't be found.

This has been changed which is great! Not sure when but it was before or around the time this thread was made. It's still opt out but you can do it without ever going on the website.

Honestly if a third party is gathering data about me without my consent then I want it sorted out.

Idc if people use parsers or whatever as Long as they don't force it on me, but a third party gathering my data without me knowing is a huge No-No. Doesnt matter what the data is.

It's gathering combat data of your character which is not your property to begin with, not data about you.

Sure, but the licsense agreement I signed clearly stated No third party. Or are we just disregarding it so that later on everyone can farm our data because "people think its OK now!"

That site is not affiliated with SE who I pay according to the terms of service.

They could only show logs of people who registered and make everything else to "hidden by default" ?! This would be the proactive solution rather than having to change description on your own lodestone or having to register on fflogs by yourself (reactive solution).
Idm fflogs eventhough I think its useless to determine real player skill with that, but as soon people do or create plugins that show fflogs rating in realtime as a plugin in act, it creates just an toxic environment.

They can try to shut it down. Another will just appear in its place. And it’s likely they know this, which is why they haven’t gone after it once in the last 4+ years its been a thing.

Also, it’s not your data. Everything in this game—your character, your numbers, everything—belong to SE. As is stated in the ToS that you signed. That said, DPS and HPS numbers are hardly personal or sensitive in nature. It’s information you can actually find in the game itself if you look at the Battle Log. Just condensed.

I know it's not my data. That's not the point. The point is that per the licsense agreement that I signed there Will be No usage of third party programs. Now a third party program is gathering and condensing data related to my character for anyone to see.

It honestly doesnt matter what data it's gathering. It's a third party, gathering data in a game that who's tos States that there Will be No third party involved!

This is actually a breach of contract if taken directly.

Nobody would have cared if they'd just kept to themselves. God knows I didn't. Now since people are parading this around it's become a topic of discussion.

Add to the fact that you have to manually take steps to opt out of a program that isnt Even supposed to be there AND is against tos.
