It was a great story overall. There were some slow parts, monotonous tasks, and things that felt kind of tacked on/unimportant to the main story. Those things have always kind of plagued this games msq's, but for me, the ending was well worth it.

I agree with the original comment, it got very boring and filler-y at times, and there is no shame in admitting that. In addition, most Shadowbringers areas also cannot really compare to even Heavensward. They are simply bland. The music elevates the atmosphere, but it only goes so far. The tedium of Rak'tika and the second part of Amh Araeng is palpable.
I think the reason people hail the game is because the story goes to stratospheric heights towards the end (literally). Even that ending part isn't terribly original, being a near replica of plot lines from FFX or Sailor Moon, but it still packs a punch just because it's such a timeless trope.
All things considered, I cannot really understand the comments praising this as the best thing ever. It seems to me that they are made by the loyal, even obsessed fanbase who have invested much time into the game and will not stand for it to be criticized in any way. I find that a bit worrying, as parts of this expansion are straight up ARR boredom, and your interactions with NPCs mostly boil down to anime-level naivety and that annoying 'let's all be friends' mentality, which isn't very grown-up storytelling. Even as Warrior of Darkness, you are still guaranteed to be a goody two-shoes, so that aspect hasn't really been explored. One of the promos for the game said 'hero becomes villain'. You most certainly don't.
As I said earlier, the final dungeon and ending are worth the slog of getting there. Mercifully, the expansion isn't very long either, some people I know have cleared it within two days.
Nice bait.
People no-lifed it. It is still a 25-30 hour experience. I am leveling 3 jobs to 80 at the same time so I have been playing since launch and still only 1/2 way through the MSQ.I agree with the original comment, it got very boring and filler-y at times, and there is no shame in admitting that. You're skipping dialogue and cutscenes. That's your problem there.
Troll thread.
OP ditched the thread after they created it.
Level 80: SAM | SCH | PLD | DNC
Leveling: AST | WAR | MCH
Really, with a fanbase that requests dialog option to flirt with dead npcs, having a fit over no male bunnys, or starting a witch hunt anytime parser is mentioned. Come on man.
The story is utter mediocrity for the most part, so those rare moments that it isn't look a lot more impressive than they really are. I wished they uncoupled instance entries from the story. Don't confuse a lot of story for good story.
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
Op do yourself a favor now just keep skipping cause your going to be completely and utterly lost later.

Not trying to throw shade and I dont contribute anything to this thread but OP is literally new in the forum and hasn't replied to anyone in this thread.
Isn't that enough to tell that this could be a troll thread.
