Just wanted to do an aside and share in this thought. I don't quite know the why, but it's true that 9/10 in my experiences, it's the people with the cute shorts / moogle slippers / bunny ears / wedding dress / etc that explode in fits of rage.

No. Healer should get good and actually use the tools available to them. All healers can do big pulls.

Heaven forbid a healer be having an off day and want a simple run instead of wall-to-wall chaos which, perhaps they can not fully control if the tank lives or dies anyway. By this logic all DPS can and should mass AoE, all tanks can and should large pull. Which is a bad mind set to have given we do have casual players who are not in it for the fastest speed run times. I'd say just be happy you have a dungeon run to begin with and not try to mow down your team mates for your own gain. Could still be in the queue, which with this attitude, wouldn't shock me is where anyone would wind back up at.

I'm a fairly new tank. After six years of playing a variety of ranged DPS (I now main MCH and DNC --newly acquired and love it), I decided to branch out and level up a tank. I'm loving GNB. This isn't a horror story but just to share my excitement of making it through two roulettes last night and doing fairly well. I handled moderate to large pulls. Maintained my aggro/hate and no one died an unnecessary death. While many people who have played tanks may find this as no big deal, you have to understand the fear I've had of branching into other roles. However, now that I have my GNB rotation down, I am following the simple mechanics, I am really enjoying it.

Sometimes you have to just face your fears and try something new! Once I have GNB leveled to 80 along with my MCH and DNC, my goal is to level a healer next O_O. Another fear of mine, but one I now feel I am ready to conquer. Even better, when I asked a party member last night if things seemed okay, they said it felt like a run with any other tank...so at least it didn't seem too out of the norm.

Held a Holminster Switch instance for 30 minutes earlier during all the disconnecting and lobby server erroring. Ended up 3-manning it with my friends since the 4th random we’d gotten in Leveling Roulette must have gave up after a while. It was interesting that I wasn’t affected by it, since I’m usually always affected by the “network technical difficulties” that happen. Wonder if it will happen again, since it occurred a couple hours before then as well.

iam so glad there is language setting on Duty option so i can set to JP only. seems like majority of you NA really love doing big pulls and having a policy anything not to your liking = kick/abandon. most JP (or asia i guess) out of 10 DG run only twice the tank doing big pulls, even that one out of two is fail because healer cant keep up so we just doing the usual pull and nobody say anything.

well okay they said something but in JP and most of the words that i get from google translate is something like "dont mind"

Setting your Duty Finder to JP only doesn’t guarantee you won’t get players that won’t mass pull. A lot of people set their Duty Finder settings to all four languages, so it’s a moot point anyways. My EU alt has it set only to English since I don’t speak French or German and don’t want to run the risk of getting into a party I can’t communicate adequately in, but she still gets French and German-speaking players from time to time that had all 4 selected (and one player only had French selected, so I guess it may even ignore the language settings with regards to things like Roulettes).

That said, you can stop with the unnecessary hate towards NA players now. I’ve seen it several times in your posts, and it’s frankly annoying to be constantly lumped in with these generalizations.

Was getting WHM up to 80 and I head into Mt. Gulg to gain some exp.

I had to use the bathroom very quickly so when the light party text showed up in the middle I quickly wrote "o/ brb rq bio" which gets responded with other "o/". I'm gone for maybe like 40 seconds or so. I get back and find the tank and one of the dps dead, while another was going to die. The tank goes "????????????????????" and I politely say "Do you even read your chatlog?" and they respond with "Ok...ok...ok".

If you're worried about getting this done as quickly as possible I'll gladly head in front of you swiftcasting holy for stun waiting for your sorry butt. Tanks both new and old I cannot stress enough look at your maps to make sure you know where everyone is. If your healer is actually moving I'd continue with your pull but if you still see them standing in the spawn zone you may want to wait unless you're ready to die.

As someone who very much prefers big pulls...

You can't expect everyone in duty finder to be up for them. Maybe someone's new to a job, or returning from a break. Or doesn't overgear the instance. Or has a bad connection. Or is having an off day like you said. Or even is just not very good at their job. When you queue into dutyfinder you have no guarantee everyone will fall into the mass pull speedrun playstyle, and if you're so set on it that you'll impose it on pugs that just aren't up to it... form a premade. I like to do big pulls, but if a healer asks for small pulls, I just do small pulls. The healer is the one that has to keep me up afterall.

My queue lasted for about 2 minutes, and I've been intaking water frequently to help with the summer heat. I'll admit it was a given that I would have to go at some point but I didn't expect I'd have to bounce in right then and there.

Regardless of my reason for brbing I posted in chat given the good faith people would read it and wait for me, especially considering I'm the healer.
