The p2p does not effect content speed simply because at least to my knowledge they are not bringing in more devs. They already have a small army of people working on 2.0 and the existing 1.x version of the games.

Now the upcoming patches will probably have more content, but that is because alot of the major overhauls to the games foundations are coming to a close. Honestly Every update including 1.2 has been massive since this summer... the thing is there is alot more mechanic changes then there are content updates. Negative of overhauling a game. Now that those are slowing it seems, the time spend on that should be shifted to content instead. But I do not believe this has anything to do with paying.

P2P is simply added due to the fact that they feel as the game stands now... if you where to start you would have enough content to warrant paying for the game.

    Agreed.

I believe this is also correct, because hopefully SE understands that after the messy initial release of XIV they don't have a ton of room for mistakes with it going forward (conjecture on my part of course). I also imagine the small army of people working on the game may also factor into the decision to start charging--that's a lot of money going out with no incoming revenue--but who knows, maybe SE's financials are so awesome that this wasn't a prime element in the "when to start charging" equation.
