I'm kinda glad to be paying. Here is why...

I'm kind of excited about paying. I somehow have this notion, that by paying, we will get more content at a faster pace and patches will come quicker. Do you think there is any logic behind this thinking, or am I completely way off. Does anyone else feel this way?

Way off. They are already delivering content as fast as they possibly can. This sub isn't going to magically make them able to deliver it faster since they already had plenty of money to use without us paying before. Unless you are accusing them of being lazy or not having access to the resources they need right now? If so, you would have to prove you know the ins and outs of game development first-hand as well as have inside access to the FFXIV dev teams daily doings to convince us of the validity of that claim.

Nah, we're still getting content at the same rate as we were before. We just pay for it now.

The p2p does not effect content speed simply because at least to my knowledge they are not bringing in more devs. They already have a small army of people working on 2.0 and the existing 1.x version of the games.

Now the upcoming patches will probably have more content, but that is because alot of the major overhauls to the games foundations are coming to a close. Honestly Every update including 1.2 has been massive since this summer... the thing is there is alot more mechanic changes then there are content updates. Negative of overhauling a game. Now that those are slowing it seems, the time spend on that should be shifted to content instead. But I do not believe this has anything to do with paying.

P2P is simply added due to the fact that they feel as the game stands now... if you where to start you would have enough content to warrant paying for the game.

Wish that's how it is but they did say even before paying subscription they are already working full on, seeing YoshiP posting at 3-4AM JP time also shows he's there working his butt off... so I dunno how much more you can push the devs to release content/patches faster as they also require at least 2 weeks QA testing before being released and such.

All I expect from the devs is to be honest as much as possible unlike the old dev team lying their butt off, I know so far YoshiP's been doing good on this part also so hope he keeps it up and once the development of the game starts getting completed want to hear more from other devs talking on the forums too.

Oh there is one major thing I do expect from the GM and Special Task Force though... lol once I report the damn RMT's to take quick action instead of doing nothing for months; that really pisses me off and since now we're paying they should do better job on this part and also expect more customer service from GM rather than auto response bull crap.

I believe this is also correct, because hopefully SE understands that after the messy initial release of XIV they don't have a ton of room for mistakes with it going forward (conjecture on my part of course). I also imagine the small army of people working on the game may also factor into the decision to start charging--that's a lot of money going out with no incoming revenue--but who knows, maybe SE's financials are so awesome that this wasn't a prime element in the "when to start charging" equation.

The real benefit to paying is that we get to see the content as it is released, and those who never intended to pay...well...don't.

content will be delivered roughly in accordance with the ffxiv road map.

I can see if they have another form of income coming in; they could use "this cash" to hire more contractors to help development and QA etc.

Not to say they don't have enough money, as it was stated earlier. (I don't know how their budget is at the moment, or how they are doing so far their fiscal)

For the corporation I work for, If there is more work and not enough peeps, they just buckle down and hire more and more contractors. Cheaper and easier, or so they think lol.
