Can Viera wear glasses?

I have been thinking about making my main a Viera (currently a male Miqo'te). I've always loved the Viera in old FF games.

What's giving me pause is stiff animations. Are they stiff? Do the ears move, like, at all?

Yes, they bounce a bit when you run and there's even a change of pose where they wiggle them before shifting into their posed positions.

Interesting as all female races decreased in number (as we assume people got funneled into Viera), while all male Races except Roegadyn increased in number.

Though, as Hunky actually correctly noted, if we will check percentages instead of just counts, Roes will suffer more than anybody else. On the other hand, I see male and female Roes incredibly often lately so... I dunno really. Seems like they all came to my DC?
And as I pointed, July statistic is tricky and will calm down later: some people will drop the game again (and so will not be showed in Active Players section anymore), some will change back to their original races and so on.

The census got updated to include Viera and Hrothgar. Viera definitely blew up! Below are the numbers for active players per race (of all the servers/datacenters).



Female Races (from most common to most rare)
1. Miqo'te - 133,844
2. Au Ra - 93,965
3. Viera - 81,278
4. Lalafell - 60,563
5. Hyur - 53,110
6. Elezen - 13,002
7. Roegadyn - 7,175

When you add Lalafell, Hyur, Elezen, and Roegadyn, the total is 133,850. That barely passes over Miqo'te alone, which is at 133,844. Catgirls just completely eclipse over the last four races. The only other two that aren't as overshadowed are Au Ra and Viera. Viera didn't surpass Au Ra like I thought it would, but it did surpass four other races and became third most popular. I would definitely consider that as blowing up.

If my math is right, this means that for every female Roegadyn out there, there are 18 catgirls!

Not surprisingly, Hrothgar didn't blow up as much as Viera did.

I think out of all the races, Roegadyn (both male and female) were hit the hardest with the introduction of Viera and Hrothgar. Roegadyn is the official unicorn race.

That seems to be about right in terms of Hrothgar numbers. Not many believed that they'll be that popular and will probably more popular than Roegadyn and Highlanders. Though I suppose time will tell once the honeymoon period is over.

Why people realized this only now, though. I mean... /wiggles ears/ that was a thing from the first day of the game!

Good to know. Glasses are kind of a staple of my look, so it's a bit of a dealbreaker.

Only problem now is that the Elezen Tights are part of my current glamours (I combined them with the Best Man's Gaiters and colored them the same so they combine to look like snazzy thigh highs). Then again I could probably pull off a whole new look as a Viera, so...we'll see.

To make it easier to look at the data, I made some tables.



Out of the female races, Roegadyn and Elezen were hit the hardest, both losing 10% of their population. Au Ra also lost a lot at 8%, but they still vastly outnumber both Roegadyn and Elezen. Lalafell only lost 2%, which doesn't surprise me too much. One of the biggest reasons why people play Lalafell is because they're tiny, which is something Viera doesn't offer. It should come to no surprise that the top 3 are the "waifu" races. I'm sure it's going to stay this way until the game is finally shut down.



Most of the male races actually saw an increase in their population. Except for Roegadyn, which was hit hard, losing 10% of its population.

Roegadyn are exceptionally rare now. Think of it like this. There are more Hrothgar out there (23,307) than there are male and female Roegadyn combined (22,682). The people who were worried and expressed concerns about the Roegadyn population being thinned out by Hrothgar and Viera were absolutely right.

I mean, they're just elezan with bunny ears and slightly more defined muscle tone. They don't offer anything new to the game, so I am not surprised at all if people didn't want to make the switch.
