I changed to Viera as soon as they were available, lasted about a week until I changed back to Mi'qote. I may go back when there are more options for them.

Oh yeah that too. The lack fo hairstyles hats and genderlock, specially the latter are what hurted the viera race numbers the most. On 6.0, which is when I think the three of this isues will be adressed, we will see a pontentially huge increase on their numbers
I love my Viera, I love hairstyle. I don't feel limited at all. However, I've played for six years with the headgear turned off because I don't want my face or hair obscured.
I'll be honest, I'm feeling the lack of hats. Wore a lot of hats before.
Annoyingly a lot of the hats I wore as a Miqo'te wouldn't even look too bad if Viera ears just clipped through them. Considering they never made any real effort to stop my cat tail clipping I'm not sure why the bunny ears are such a big deal for them.
I can say for sure that Excalibur has changed. I've seen plenty of 4-5" high heels all over the place. Jeez... I can't be daring enough to wear such high heels in real life, even during special occasions or parties. The highest I have are 3" and those I feel I can fall over and hurt an ankle.
I'm still giggling when hearing their battle voice, especially as dancers. I'm sorry but... those voices can't possibly be official for those girls.![]()
Pokes...♥
I agree about headgear. I do miss having the actual option to wear it, even if I didn't wear much to begin with. You can't even preview headgear to get an idea what it looks like in general. Hair, I'm fine with what we have, I always used the same hairstyle or rotated through a couple I always used to begin with. I do own several you have to earn/buy though.
After playing since early access as a Viera, I can certainly say they probably should really tune down the amount of times the Viera screams during combat, rather specifically on dancer. I do not mind the screams themselves, it just happens way too often.
Looking at XIVcensus they are 3rd by popularity now. Decent, considering that they are not exact "cuuuuutie" concept like female Au Ra are (female Miqo'te are more on sexy side, but still cute concept too). And I see at least one Viera almost in every run to dungeon so it can be matter of Server/DC.
Jesus. I figured that Elezens and Roegadyns would be at the bottom, but I didn't think the gap was this wide. The census got updated to include Viera and Hrothgar. Viera definitely blew up! Below are the numbers for active players per race (of all the servers/datacenters).
Female Races (from most common to most rare)
1. Miqo'te - 133,844
2. Au Ra - 93,965
3. Viera - 81,278
4. Lalafell - 60,563
5. Hyur - 53,110
6. Elezen - 13,002
7. Roegadyn - 7,175
When you add Lalafell, Hyur, Elezen, and Roegadyn, the total is 133,850. That barely passes over Miqo'te alone, which is at 133,844. Catgirls just completely eclipse over the last four races. The only other two that aren't as overshadowed are Au Ra and Viera. Viera didn't surpass Au Ra like I thought it would, but it did surpass four other races and became third most popular. I would definitely consider that as blowing up.
If my math is right, this means that for every female Roegadyn out there, there are 18 catgirls!
Not surprisingly, Hrothgar didn't blow up as much as Viera did.
Male Races (from most common to most rare)
1. Hyur - 81,390
2. Miqo'te - 69,278
3. Lalafell - 50,183
4. Au Ra - 42,685
5. Elezen - 23,439
6. Hrothgar - 23,307
7. Roegadyn - 15,507
I think out of all the races, Roegadyn (both male and female) were hit the hardest with the introduction of Viera and Hrothgar. Roegadyn is the official unicorn race.
I think the number will go down in the next weeks once the hype died down. At the moment I see so many... how can I put it... slutty Viera dressed in next to nothing and high heels, it became a bit annyoing for me personally, so I'm glad once bunny season is ending. The numbers might go up if they introduce the other gender for the new races but not as much.
