Pulling the bosses In dungeons as DPS a thing now?

Suppose the days of "You spank it, you tank it" are long past? Its pretty rude to pull ahead of the tank. It doesn't matter if you want to keep a buff up or that a tank can gain aggro easy, its simply disrespectful. If you can't play nicely pick up your toys and go home.

Yes, it is rude and you should say something about it in chat. You know what's more rude? Wasting everyone else's time by causing a wipe due to a temper tantrum. I'm a healer main and will keep that DPS alive until the tank decides to quit being a baby and pick it up (and have done so before) rather than waste another 5+ minutes dying, running back, and starting over.

Of Course its usually better to let the Tank pull to keep the pace.

But "You spank it, you tank it" was never a good approach. Tanking is the tanks job.

Imagine that with another role:
Healer suddenly doesn´t heal you anymore because you stood in an avoidable aoe?
"You let it hit, your Sh**"

Meele stops doing dps because the mob was turned and he didn´t get his positional?
"You turn it, you kill it"

Its always the Tanks that complain if they don´t get there "special Snowflake" treatment.

Are you stupid? We had brd/thf/rng/cors pull because we setup camp for EXP. You werent constantly running through an instance. You're comparing two completely different things here pal. If you're talking claiming kings or something it's still a stupid argument because you're leaving out JAwait and every spell have it's own cast time/recast.

my rules for dungeons are if everyone is in boss arena pull immediately if 1 person is out(like far out) they are telling me they are not ready so i won't pull. I'd rather have 4/4 ready to fight than 3/2/1 :P

As for your situation OP if you had said something like "i would like to pull the boss once i know everyone is ready" if they went well we were you just simply reply "Without typing it out, the ready check is the only way for me to know" etc. If people get aggressive at that then they are unpleasant, timers be damned if you word yourself to be looking out for the whole team they cannot really do anything about it.

Yep, same, if everyone is inside the purple glowy line I pull immediately (as long as Healer looks okay on MP).

That term is way old. Back in the days of World of Warcraft where a group needed to wait for 3-5 stacks of sunder to make sure the tank had good aggro. I'm sure its probably even older than that. Back then if you pulled even accidentally there was a good chance the tank wasn't going to be able to pick it up, not before you died. And in combat raises were not a thing. (Druids were the only ones with a combat raise, but it has a 40 minute CD).

I don't know if its an age thing, but I image a lot of these attitudes come from that time. If you pulled ahead of the tank you were an a**hole and the rest of the group would let you die. Even though the days of working to gain aggro are gone, many people, myself included, still extend this consideration to the tank.
