Pulling the bosses In dungeons as DPS a thing now?

So i've made it to the lvl 80 dungeon grind as a tank. During one of the dungeons this dragoon would pull every boss as soon as we set foot in the arena. I like to do a countdown ranging from 5-10, usually 5 if the party is experienced and not new to it, but this DRG did not care.

I let the first boss slide, but the second time I did not, so i just let him tank the boss until he died and then established aggro. The whole party instantly hated me, and wanted me out of the dungeon asap, so i got kicked...

With the new aggro changes for tanks, is pulling as tank or doing a countdown/ready check even needed anymore in dungeons?

Probably didn't want his timer or stacks or whatever it is Dragoons have to run out.

Honestly, who cares? You could have taken it off him in literal seconds, it wouldn't have really effected your run, and you'd have finished the dungeon, got your loot and forgotten all about it by now.

Instead you got kicked, had to start over, you wasted your own time and theirs, and the whole thing has evidently annoyed you enough to make this topic about it.

I was in 8-man raid roulette in Alexander with some trash before the boss and the DDs pulled the boss before everyone arrived.

In dungeons people pulled a third group of mobs because apparently pulling two groups was still too slow for them, I was called out for not doing big pulls in lvl 35 Qarn (I have like only one cooldown there, yay), even when I told that I was the first time in the dungeon (and of course my gear wasn't the top stuff while leveling) people were running ahead and pulled a second group.

It's gotten worse with the expansion for sure. And I am considering to quit tanking now after 4 years, because of these people I meet all the time in duty finder. I just don't want to deal with that shit anymore.

You don't need to /cd in a dungeon. Just pull the boss. DDs will lose their buffs in the time you wait to count down, and then they have to ramp up again and things go slower.

In my honest opinion: the vote dismiss was not right.

The dragoon didn't say anything during the first pull, and them pulling is flat out wrong. Whether they have BotD to maintain or any other buff, that doesn't matter. As long as nobody says anything, you can just assume.

Their comment about being "but hurt" actually fits them more than you.

I wouldn't say you were "right" to let them tank the boss, but honestly... if nobody opens their damn mouth, I would've done the same. Then again I wouldn't even have a situation like that because I usually almost instant-pull. (Just waiting for the last person to join us)

That being said, with the recent changes in 5.0 almost every job doesn't need any prep time. And especially melees have a buff to maintain (BotD, Greased Lightning, Huton...) so you should pull asap - granted nobody got left behind or is watching a CS.

Nevertheless, you could've avoided all this by asking them to stop pulling. But for sure this one is not you alone, but the others, too. If you don't communicate, yet are still "but hurt", a conflict is unavoidable.

edit: Should anyone pull, when another is still watching CS, I'll let them have it.

Ultimately, it’s all about communication. No matter who may have been wrong, If someone pulls and you’d like them not to, then you need to speak up.

In roulettes, I hit the ready check button as we approach the boss arena. There’s usually a good 5-10 seconds for them to decide if they’re ready to go or not and it doesn’t take much to press a button whilst running.

9 times out of 10, everyone will have flagged as “ready” before we even cross the lockout line, so I can go straight in without stopping. The other 10% of the time, it gives people a bit of time to regen MP, or speak up if they haven’t done a boss before.

I definitely noticed that this is a new trend. I use the Blacklist feature a lot more often recently, and that was originally solely reserved for RMTs.

I've let idiot DPS tank what they pulled. But then, those were exenuating circumstances.

I think if I specifically tell them "Don't start the next fight until we deal with the current fight", and a DPS deliberately rushes off before the current group is dead to start a new fight, I have no obligation to save them.

I like this approach and may steal it for future. As you say, it's not difficult to just click yes or no.
