So I just remembered something pre-launch. Everyone was claiming Emet may be lying or telling a half truth, because Ascian. Not only did he tell is the absolute truth, even when he acted as though he didn't care to talk to you, he still indulged if you spoke to him.

It might be "absolute truth" to him but we still need to approach his description of the original summoning with care. He's part of the group that originally came up with the plan to summon Zodiark, and (by his own admission) was tempered by Him. Of course he's going to portray that decision in a positive light and Hydaelyn in a negative one.

And who are the "people we trusted most" that lied? Hydaelyn? We don't have enough information about that yet. She was created to oppose Zodiark and protect life and is following that order. Everyone else is working on the best information they have.
