Well, considering the final cutscene all but says that there will be more content on the First, I imagine that there will be more dungeons (at least one per patch being main story) for Trusts. I know with the Exarch, you can handwave it with the whole "gets weaker when/while away from the tower" deal, but there's little reason to not have Lyna join you on more occasions.

You have to cosndier that Trust Companions are expected to Stay in the MSQ as WoL"s companions for longer term even in 6.0 and beyond.

They did not add Lyne and Exarch most likely they are expect to remain as their current roles where Lyne remains Captain of the Crystarium Guards and Exarch is forever bound to the CT in the First thus he cannot join us beyond any content in the Source. Unless a major event fuse the worlds of the First and Source together, make the lands we visit in the First a new Contienent in the Source, and gives a Lore reason why Lyne and Exarch are on a journey with WoL during the 5.4, 5.5, 6.0 and beyond storylines it is unlikely Lyne and Exarch will ever become avaliable outside of the Trial Version of Trust in 5.0 MSQ.

On the bright side the chances of current Trust companions to never be killed off in the storyline is high current since they are expect to be the characters that are adventuring with WoL during the MSQ.

(PS I heard that if you max level all current trust companions you unlock their pre-Shadowbringer outfits as a alternate costume.)

And where does Ryne fit into this? I highly doubt that this will end with us plucking her from the First like some sort of interdimensional souvenir.

Ever consider that Ryne may stay with the Scion's beyond 5.3?

We are uncertain what will happen during 5.1 to 5.3 but there is still a possibility a story reason brings Ryne with us into the Source to continue her role as Thancred's daughter and have her continue to grow.
