Might be an issue on your end. I've had and I know my FC mates have had very few problems. Sure we have relatively small log in queues unless there was a major crash and there have been a couple but compared to previous launches this one has been pretty much trouble free.

I'm sorry you're experiencing those issues cause it would sure not make me want to play.

That disagrees with you. 45 pages of it. I've gone through everything possible on my end multiple times. This is a problem directly caused by SE with patch 5.0, everything was perfect before this.

Well i'm lucky I guess and I run DX11 and that doesn't change my experience for myself and others I play with. I'm sorry you and those others are having issues. I hope they sort it out soon.

I'll give it a 7/10. MSQ was great, but felt like there was a lot more filler/fetch quests than in previous expansions. Level 78 msq questline was meh. 79 started off with a bang, then you go to the last fine, find another settlement and have to earn their trust. More fetch quests *groan*. After the way 79 started, I was pumped for the grand finale. The final zone killed my excitement by the time I got to the last quest. The solo instances where we play as other characters should be shortened. They give us such a limited skill set, it ends up presing 111111121111 for 8-10 minutes and gets boring fast. Give us more to do or shorten the length of the fight.

Music was great. Launch was great, couple of server crashes, but launch was 100% better than SB.

Outside of MSQ, it's just more of the same. Tome grind, weekly raid grind, ex primal mount grind etc. Nothing really new after the story is completed.

Gonna give it a solid 8/10.
The story was overall great. My only gripes with it was the way how the final zone was tacked on. I mean, the entire build up to the Level 79 dungeon/Trial was absolutely breathtaking and kudos to SE on its grandeur. However, the last act of the expansion was incredibly lack luster as a result. The build up was minute, the 79 quest barring progression until Role Quests were complete and just the overall feel of the zone was lackluster at best. The City there gave me the creeps as well and was ready to nope out of there sooner rather than later, even if it was interesting lore wise.

That isn't to say the final fight was anything short of phenomenal and I loved it to death but of the build up between the lvl 79 dungeon/Trial and lvl 80 dungeon/trial, I was much more hyped for the former than the latter.

I'm persistent in what I do and I tried to fix their disaster of a patch in every way possible, still no-go. I spent the entire week repeating that behaviour. Crash, sit in queue for an hour or more, crash again in 20-30 minutes, rinse and repeat for a week because I assumed they would fix it.

Yet here we are, with the same issues still present.

Can't call a disaster when is just a low portion of ppl experiencing this. Its the best launch of an MMO that ever happening, from wow to wildstar, to rift and more others that i have seen. Ofc there is some problems but nothing big. It really is the best expansion so far and one of the best FF histories.

    Amazing storyline

Well I am in an FC founded by refugees from Everquest II and we are over the moon with new expansion.

Storyline is like nothing I have ever seen before. The characters are 3 dimensional and its dissection of moral dilemmas, death and tragedy is a masterpiece for what is 'just a game'.

I have slight reservations about the graphics in the fights because I sometimes can't see enough for the blaze of special effects. The actual graphics of the zones are tremendous and the detail of the characters is excellent.

My only gripe is that because many of those playing are on consoles nearly all the gameplay in fights involves running around like a scalded cat. In other MMOs which are PC based there tends to be a lot more strategy to fights such as having to DPS one mob slowly while killing adds or even just killing the main boss very very slowly so healers can remove detriments that are hitting the raid. Another example is having away groups that tell the main raid which colour mob to kill. I have to confess that as I am 66 I don't have the reactions of a 20 year old so I might be a little prejudiced in this opinion. However, it hasn't held me back as I am on the last 2 fights despite having missed3 days for real life issues.

There are always things one can dislike in a game but for a project of this size the implementation of the expansion was near perfect and none of our FC has seen anything better.

Dat ending doe. I had so many emotions, and though i was 99% certain who the Crystal Exarch was the whole time, it was still a WOAH moment when it was actually revealed. 10/10

If you are still unable to play without crashes after the update, you need to re-install your game, unfortunately. I was having the same issue, but re-installing the game fixed it for me and a bunch of other people after the update.

As an FFXIV expansion, it easily gets a 9/10 for ticking all the boxes, and for (based on what I've seen so far) the best story, atmosphere, and lore that the game has yet featured.

In terms of how closely it approximates my dream MMO expansion... Maybe 8/10? I would have liked to have seen more revolutionary changes to the formula. What they have done as far as FATE rewards and side-questing has been nice, and should go some way towards making the open world a worthwhile place to be for a while longer, I still feel that there's more they could do in this space.

I also think that Trusts are under-cooked; so under-cooked that I don't even bother using them, and end up just DF-ing with my DRK instead. Trusts were, ostensibly, made for someone like me who prefers playing alone. But duties with Trusts are like wading through molasses, so I just can't be bothered. If they actually AOE'd this would go a long way to speeding things up, but I'd also like to see them used for other content where it's not so easy to find a group for people who don't have a lot of time to network and assemble premades, etc. I'm thinking here of the Binding Coil, or some of the old Ex trials, etc... Content that I really struggle to get to pop, and so haven't been able to complete at all.

I keep bringing this up every time Square seems to make a nod towards enabling solo-and-casual-focused payers to access more content (e.g., BLU, Squadrons), because they never go quite far enough. I can understand their concern about not wanting to remove all incentive to party up with actual players for things, but for old, neglected content that some of us are just looking to clear? I really don't see the harm.

Those quibbles aside, I just love everything about ShB. Not only does it feel like the pinnacle of the game so far, but it's seriously rivalling some of my most fondly-remembered FF experiences (except for FNC... Nothing will get close to that :P).

The journey up to 80 is great. It felt like a classic FF adventure. Dancer is fun to play, if a bit simple.

I had to knock a few points off because it took me a week to hit 80. Now I am back to the same dull endgame that was around before. I don't do extreme mode raids so now I am back to leveling up other jobs to .... collect tomes.
