Lahabrea was the most genius and the strongest. Also Elidubus confirms he's the only one left of the unsundered to bring Lahabrea back they would need to
do as Emet actually hinted and raising someone outside the zodiark circle to the office of Lahabrea, which I think it's what going to happen to Zenos on his quest to unseal Zodiark to get his powers for himself

When has it been said ?
He was a genius scientist, but i don't remember anything about being the strongest. What's sure is that Emet-Selch said that switching body put a toll on him.

And he can't be brought back. The other Ascians (not unsundered) could be brought back because while sundered, their soul still existed. Lahabrea's one have been destroyed when absobed by Thordan. He is as dead as Emet-Selch, now and forever.

Considering that the Exarch actually had to summon 7 other WoL's canonically just to defeat Hades I can safely say that he gave us his all.

We were discussing it with moose in the ethys discord Emet says
that the unsundered could elevate to the office of the thirteen someone outside of the zodiark circle but they choose not to because the summoners of zodiark would be loyal to him and we concur that it is a foreshadowing of things to come.

as for lahabrea it is said in the academya quest

Damn, for the academya quest i missed it, i have only seen the guy at the counter saying that his boss is the best, nothing more, and i didn't took it to seriously.

    For the rest :
Yes, another Ascian can become "Lahabrea" since it's a title, but the unsundered Lahabrea that we fought previously is gone.

Lahabrea was not the strongest,in fact it was never said he was the strongest.
He was a head researcher of the Akadaemya but that was about it. He was smart indeed but not the strongest and even if he was body snatching weakend him thus he was the strongest no more.

I'll ask moose to retrace that part, because we've been in three discussing how they said it was the strongest but we could've been mistaken

edit: It's not said that he was the strongest but it is heavily implied

With time and effort, I hope to become a creator to rival Lahabrea. A master of every recognized creation magick, possessed of boundless imagination and willpower to realize impossibly complex concepts. And a renowned orator besides!

Oh my, yes. There are few who can match his knowledge and expertise in the field of phantom creation.

So while not exactly stated to be the strongest it's safe to assume that he was at least one of the strongest still a very powerful indivudual that was considered the apex by many

It's probably the case for the 14 members of their Council.

Lahabrea and Nabriales both severely underestimated us in ARR; plus both were confident that they were immortal at the time.
In HW, Lahabrea was weakened from his previous defeat, Igeyorhm was a sundered Ascian, and both were also dealing with Regula and Thordan.
Elidibus didn't seem to want us dead until 4.5; and at that point seemed to need to pretend to still be Zenos for whatever he's planning. So he couldn't go all out.
I can believe that the Hades fight was the first one where we really did fight an Ascian at full power.
(I do expect that Elidibus can put up a similar or better fight though. And wouldn't be surprised if he does so relatively soon, maybe even in the expected big 5.3 MSQ trial.)

Hijacking this thread with a different, related question: where does the final battle take place? Are we still in the fake Amaurot that Emet-Selch made? If so, where does that post-battle scene in which you can see the sun (underwater??) take place? Finally, why does fake Amaurot still exist after Emet-Selch kicks the bucket? My impression was that killing Emet-Selch dispelled the glamour that he cast on the ruins of Amaurot, which is why you see all those decayed buildings in the post-battle cutscene, but then you get back into the game and they're just fine. I understand the practical reason for letting it stay (not having to model two versions of the same location; letting players play in the nice looking version of the city), but what's the lore reason?
