I know it's one in a series, yet people say the exact same thing about any other games in a long running series:

"You can't really judge it as a stand alone game"

It's not ok to judge Skyrim as a stand alone (because for all intents and purposes, each one is a stand alone game because they aren't expansions onto one another.) but it's ok to judge other series by one game alone.

This is what I mean by it being hilarious, Skyrim isn't a bad game, but it's not this "perfect" game people are hyping it up to be, it truly isn't, especially since fans of it are doing what they tell people in general not to do with games, and look past flaws.

If you're comparing Skyrim specifically to FFXIV...

Skyrim may be buggy, yes, but the foundation is there so it's easy to overlook. FFXIV's foundation is flawed and pretty much everything is being rebuilt from the ground up, which is more difficult to forgive. Skyrim is one of many stories in a continuing saga set in the same universe. Final Fantasy games are generally one story in its own universe not connected to any other numbered title (there are exceptions, but there are very few sequels).

Skyrim isn't perfect, but I think it's hype-worthy. I have tons of friends playing it, and no one has complained yet. Whereas none of my friends have anything good to say about FFXIV.

Yep I can attest to this. Tried to get two friends of mine and my husbands nephew to play. All three of them LOL'd and quit in a week, this was back at release. All three of them play TES V: Skyrim and are loving it...again...#'s speak for themselves :/

Rebuilt from ground up? Somehow I think they're in the final stretch of battle tweaks and it still feels like back in the beta days. I wish your assumption is true and we're only in the beginning of these battle fixes.

I am actually really curious as to what the patch times will be for patches released AFTER 1.21. Remember back when Yoshi said content will begin to be released sooner once the job system is handled? It will be interesting to see if that turns out to be true or not. As it stands now 1.21 was scheduled to be released in the next few weeks (according to the plan they laid out) and I get the feeling it will probably be pushed back. (purely speculation on my part, just my gut feeling.)

    Too true, Seif.
