More XIV.
a little bit of what works in other mmo is good though.

How does auto following the ARC/THMs have any real skill involved? Melee don't have to do anything, pushing that autolock/autorun thing is def a challenge though.Agreed. I mean you can stay in one spot and have someone bring mobs to you or you can run around and kill mobs. In both scenarios you're mindlessly grinding on the same creatures. In one scenario, only one person has to do any kind of moving. Guess people just don't want to move their characters and would rather just mindlessly mash their skills to kill. Not saying that roaming takes much more skill/attention though.
Is there a chance anyone can bring up a subject without mentioning XI? There were other games as well. Probably thousands before it.
i found PTing in FFXI more fun cause you're not spending half the time running around -_-, when you get to a camp you're actually FIGHTING! YOSH!! ARARARARARRRRRR!
You have a good point but at the same time they shouldn't take everything from XI, for example if the Dev team can't amke things epic without having to use XI then they should do it, copying from XI should be the worst-case scenario solution
Just because it is viable doesn't mean everyone is going to play that way. Not a very strong argument. I agree with the guy that says give us both.
While true every good game uses another as building blocks. For example Super Mario Bros (NES) was one of the first platformers, then comes games like Megaman which is another platformer that basically built on the premise of Mario with a spin, then fast foward to the PSX/N64 era, platformers were some of the top games that all shared a similar thing in common:
Item collection
point a - b
boss fight
next stage/area
repeat till you save your princess/defeat the final boss/get all items.
Simply because it's a premise that worked and worked well. FFXI's systems would have been the perfect building blocks to do something new with it by fixing the flaws they may have had, because only trolls would say that the Assault System (including Nyzul Isle), Limbus, Abyssea style itemization (aka Trial of Magians), Grounds of Valor (Fields is ok too) and ZNM system would be horrible additions to an MMO, I mean we all love exploration and steady progression, we also love to type /sea for searching.
Copying from XI isn't really this bad thing since every MMORPG since 2004 has copied an MMO prior to it, some in a very blatant mannRIFTer and seem to be exceedingly popular. It was almost expected after almost 8 years and 2 MMOs under their belts, XIV would have been damn near perfect of an MMORPG at launch given their stance of making it more casual friendly, which is exactly what FFXI and FMO needed.
Agreed. But most of all, this:
There's already enough to encourage /afk powerleveling. Let's not make it any easier, please.

What's a Pull Camp?
I think they should have originally developed FFXIV with Pong from Atari in mind: boring controls, not a lot to do, and hours of monotonous fun... OH WAIT!... they did that already - darn *snaps fingers*
