What springs to mind when someone uses the lore argument who obviously didn't pay attention to the game where its stated in both the source and the first that male viera/vii exist - but people cling to the idea that they don't out of pure spite, or ignorance.

Spoilers below regarding male Vii/Viera - Don't read unless you want to know.

Don't worry about it, with the information we got regarding the vii it seems rather likely that they will be added in the future. The Vii are just the same side of the same coin for Viera - they have the same lifestyle and culture. Yet at the completion of their 'story' they are accepting of aid from around outside, they welcome it. They also talk about how those who leave the wood should be allowed to return and go as they please. Finally that a male Vii, was in our vicinity and dispatched multiple enemies before fleeing before we could get there - yet the female Vii we were with stated that maybe we could have come face to face with one if she had been able to introduce us as a friend.

The "Lore" excuse seems lazy in my eyes, i mean its its own game, just because its based on it not means they can change it, they even did that once already, Miqo'te were female only and Rhogadyn were male only, forgot if in 1.0 or in FFXI.

It is its own game for god same, YOU and your TEAM make the lore Yoshida, if i want continuity with other games i play the same franchise with its sequel that depend on each, Final Fantasy never was this, each game was its own thing, for god sake we getting a Nier Automata Raid, how is that "Lore" friendly to bring in even if you explain it as best you can.

It is it's own game. Yes, certainly correct. Find me a male viera in XIV.... you wont....for a reason that is not our own

Doesn't "soon" mean yet to happen, and does not the Empire's staggering after Varis's fall suggest this might not come to pass? Regardless, I think a connection between the worlds is all but inevitable given that G'raha's fate rests on it now.
