Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I still don't understand why Male Viera are so important to have as Playable.
Nor the outrage that quickly follows as soon as somebody brings up the Races Lore... I mean we are talking about an established race that was created in 2003, but people wanna say just re-write it so we can have it in FFXIV

Not saying people aren't allowed to want things, but how badly people want this is just so far out there.

The race in Ivalice and in the XIV setting are two different things. They take inspiration from the former, but in both cases the males exist. I believe in XII's case their budget simply limited their ability to implement them. There is no re-writing here and you can't take the Ivalice lore and say it constrains what they must do in XIV. The "outrage" regarding the lore is more that it's being misapplied conclude that the developers are ruling out the addition of male Viera for that reason... but we know both from Matsuno and Yoshi-P that it's not the case. The way the lore is written in XIV is solely to explain why we're not seeing them much as things stand - it does not mean circumstances can't change so that we can both see and play them.

As to why people want them as playable... more options. Not sure what's so hard to grasp about that. Especially given the concept art SE pitched in the past, and given how Yoshi-P has described them, people are drawn in by the character concept. Much like some are by female Hrothgar based on female Ronso.

I decided to go for something different this time around. It also happens to be the sort of physique that I'd like to see for male viera. Assuming that they're ever added, of course.

For a second there I thought we finally got male viera, but but then I noticed the ears. Not my fault my eyes wandered.

The Limitation argument doesn't work in FFXII's case. Its not an MMO, its a full-fledged Single Player JRPG. They could have put even at least 1 in if they wanted to. Literally, the only reason and excuse...is because...lore. The Males were always 'non-existent' and ever seeing one is akin to seeing a Dragon IRL.
I won't disagree, several times Ive said that if they COULD write in a GOOD reason from them to come out of hiding, or maybe even create a new Clan of Males, then I could support it. What Im not grasping is how aggressive people have been about this. Options are one thing, but threatening to not support a game, questioning FFXIV's budget, calling Yoshi and the Dev team childish & vulgar names, making it a Gender Issue, attempting to bring in social justice, none of that makes sense. Its almost like Life and Death in the case of Male Viera, to the point it almost feels like this goes beyond "Options" in a video game.

Re-reading your first sentence there, do we even know what World Ivalice takes place in? I mean what are the odds that Eorzea & Dalmasca probably exist in the same Universe?
We literally go to Rabanastre, and I know I read or saw in an Interview that The Ivalice Raid was a continuation of the Storyline for War of the Lions. So IDK, maybe the 2 are actually connected.

Non existant they do not share the same in game universe for few reasons
-Ashe and Vassler are siblings in FFXIV while in FFXII there were newly weds
-Gabranth is a garlean Legatus not a man from a subjugated province risen to the rank of Judge
-Rabanstre is built upon Lesalia not the other way around like in the Ivalice alliance universe
-Bah'gamnan is sympathetic being a former captain failing to protect his charge rather than a bounty hunter bad generic bad guy
-Fran is a resistance leader general not a sky pirate traveling with Balthier

I could go on but i think that is enough to make the point they do not occupy the same universe, they are references and certainly way more on the nose than other things in ffxiv but that is their only connection.

The problem with Lore though is currently we, as in both sides pro and con, cannot use the 1st's Vils as any sort of gauging on what Viera are like because they have lived entirely separate social lives/history, thus any insight to them can only tells us how they are like on the 1st not the Source meaning if the Vils are about to face extinction it doesn't mean male Viera could never be playable just like if the Vils are booming with males doesn't mean that male Viera will be playable.

Right now we only have what was told to us in SB and the race descriptions for Viera and Hrothgar(yet to do GNB storyline so may have more insight there). and atm this lore is flimsy it can be taken either way and is purposely left vague enough that if they do add them it is a simple change if they don't they don't have to do anything leaving it as vague as it is.

Ok, first of all, the people you're saying are a minority in a minority, there's been very few name-calling in a while, and you're using a lot of buzzwords taken out of context. We don't know the full extent of the budget, but from Yoshi's comments it's not enough for the numbers that XIV brings in. Heck, no one's thrown the sexism and homophobia cards in months (at least, not in this thread).
Second, males existed, just were never shown, and as I've said before: when we go to Golmore Jungle, we specifically go to the areas that would be in control of Eruyt, a female Village, so if the males have control over their own part of the forest (as the Ultimania says), we wouldn't see it, and we see very few Viera outside the Woods anyway.
Point being, Lore doesn't even need to change to introduce playable males (and female Ronso). They're super rare and very seldomly leave the woods, except for the exception to all Lore rules: the PC.

None. They're not connected. Nada. Word of Yoshi and Matsuno. The Ivalice raid is a "What if?" scenario carving a little Ivalice-shaped hole into Hydaelin. Seriously, Matsuno had to come out and say they're not the same (I've even written a few paragraphs in this very forum, in this very thread, on how they differ from one another).

Besides Lalafell and Roegadyn I'm pretty sure every other race are a modified Midlander. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Showing my support for bun bois and lion mummys . Having seen the Vii in ShB and how awesome my BF's hrothgar is, it would be nice to have the male/female counterparts to the new races at some point. I totally understand the time and effort it takes to create new races and the hard work its taken for the new expansion. Its amazing amazing good work dev team!
