I might feel a bit iffy though if we have to be 100% optimal with the new setup to only equate to what summoner was doing before. Is it wrong for me to want even better results for more work? I'd be curious if anyone has run the numbers on this yet.
That's the problem too. I can't say how the numbers are at level 80, but at level 75 and going absolutely crazy with the million of OGCDs and having everything nailed down with good melded gear and a top tier eureka weapon, performing my rotation without almost forgetting about anything, a MNK absolutely murdered me in DPS in the last boss of Qitana's Ravel. That was so so so disappointing, like I bet that monk was pressing 2 buttons at best xD. I can see your DPS bumping up by a pretty decent amount at 80, but before then, even if you have spiderman reflexes and manage to weave and not forget about a single OGCD and perform everything correctly, any half good DRG or MNK will make you look like a laughing stock (single target speaking, in AOE they can't even remotely come close to even compete with you, then again, AOE matters less...).

He could tell you, but then he'd have to kill you.

No, seriously, he would, because it can get you banned.

Well the picture doesn't really start coming together until 76 and getting the ruination trait. That finally allows you to start build a decent rotation of skills.

Try to google ff14 parser and you should find what you're looking for, but as the other guy said it's against the ToS. But you'll be fine as long as you don't complain about dps in game using exact numbers.

SMN is incredibly busy and we get out DPSed by most other DPS. Even got out DPSed by a Gunbreaker/Warrior on some AoE situations but I didnt have Akh Morn up at the time so idk how bad it really is, but its not looking particularly good considering how hard itis to play. And I dont want to hear the excuse being we have a res and devotion.

Devotion is actually one of the worst support skills in the game right now. And the class being harder to play for lower returns than others isn't really that big a downside in and of itself. Hell, bard is one of the lower DPS classes in the game but also one of the harder ones to play.

The bigger issue is that SMN got massively busier in ShB. Enough to qualify as something of a bait and switch. The class went from a mid-tier business caster to a caster bard on steroids, and that's not good design in and of itself.

What I can say is what the devs have done already are pretty okay changes. The issue is almost entirely that the class is to busy because it has too many oGCDs in a given amount of time. This is actually a trivial change to fix even by game programming standards, since you just need to fudge a couple numbers around or remove a couple abilities while fuzzing some numbers, something that the devs should readily be able to do. The class doesn't need a massive overhaul to "fix" it in ShB, it just needs to not have screws as tight as it has right now.

I honestly really liked SB's downtime on SMN, and while I don't hate having some of it removed, they kinda went too far. Now they just need to reign it back in.

I love it. I can't play anything else. Its active. Its no longer just a dot class with a pet tanking. By far the best change ive seen to summoner yet

So far I enjoy it a lot, going on EXT primal later today, but the downtime between Firebird Trance and Dreadwyrm Trance is a bit wonky. The DoT and Egi management at this time feels kind of bland compared to how busy the other half of the rotation is. These 40 seconds are long and quite punishing DPS-wise if you need to use your Ruin 4s procs for movement.

I wanted to raise an issue though, Akh Morning sometimes bugs. In 4.X when you used it on a target that disappeared, it would reset the CD becasue the attack did not land. In 5.0, if I Akh Morn a target that died between my input and the attack animation, it cancels the Akh Morn but it does not reset the timer, so it's completely lost. I guess it works the same on Phoenix but it did not happen to me yet!
