If my cursory googling is correct, it only came with the collector's edition. I certainly don't remember getting one.

Simple, new race wasnt available when you originally made yours.
They gave these out when Au Ra joined 14 too, makes no sense not to do it for viera as well. (it was not linked to collectors edition, I got one and my only collectors edition of this game was for 1.0) Although Im sure google will show conflicting info about it. It was a last minute/week change.

Join date means little, and it only came with the CE of HW.

Fallout76. collectors edition players actually get ripped off buy not getting what's listed as part of it. get mad. understandable. even get a replacement bag iirc.
ffxiv. collectors eddition player gets everything it says it gives. gets mad that the last 2 xpacs didnt't give a cash shop item free.

Pretty sure you get a Fantasia for clearing ARR, which meant it wouldn't have been clearable until the last patch before HW, which also means you got a Fantasia for essentially just getting the normal HW, as you were clearly going to continue playing at that point.

But I'm surprised everyone trolling 1 person didn't know that. Theres the fantasia for heavensward essentially without buying the CE

Maybe watch the "Knows these things" comment before you google "everything" and not just the answer you want.

Changes to 14 happen all the time, one google search doesn't prove law in 14 like it does in WoW.

When one purchases an expansion, one expects to have access to all the new jobs/races released in that expansion without having to completely start the game over. We aren't buying a new game here, a single fantasia or a single token to change to one of the new races is the least they could do.

That wasn't always the case. That was changed when they changed how vet rewards worked.

When one purchases an expansion, one expects to have access to all the new jobs/races released in that expansion without having to completely start the game over. We aren't buying a new game here, a single fantasia or a single token to change to one of the new races is the least they could do.

WoW has added a multitude of new races and you have never been given a free race change, and in that game race changes are more expensive AND your race actually impacts how the game plays (in minor ways, but an impact nonetheless). Being a different race means nothing in this game beyond aesthetics.
